Not great

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not a fan of the new heel change in the shoe. My heel like to slide around even with a heel lock lacing. Feels like the back of the shoe is too low to hold my heel. I like the old design.

Game Changer

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally - a totally neutral shoe that accommodates my custom orthotics! Game changer! Good looking shoe, not too soft, not too high - just right! I tried them in men's and women's sizes, medium and wide widths and found the one that works. If you wear orthotics, or are lucky enough to have feet that don't pronate or supinate, this shoe is for you!

Best shoes for nurse

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been wearing Brooks for my work shoes for about two years now and need to continue to be my favorite shoes. I am a nurse and I am on my feet all day and these are super comfortable in my feet. Don’t hurt.

Great,comfortable shoe!

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

Love these shoes. I don’t run but wear them for work. I am on my feet on tile hard tile floors all day. They have just the right amount of cushion for me. The fit is great and I have had so many compliments on the color. I have switched to men’s shoes as I have long toes and men’s shoes give me a little more length in the toe box. My boss was having a lot of discomfort being on his feet all day and I suggested he try these shoes. He also referees high school and college sports as a part time job. He loves them too.

From Reliable to Unwearable: My Disappointing Experience with the Ghost 17

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I’ve been running in Brooks Ghost shoes since the Ghost 10, and until now they’ve been my go-to daily trainer. Unfortunately, the Ghost 17 is by far the worst version I’ve ever worn. Normally, I can jump straight into a new pair of Ghosts and run for miles with zero break-in issues. That wasn’t the case here. Less than two miles into my first run, I seriously considered stopping because of how uncomfortable they were. I’m a consistent size 12, but the Ghost 17 feels closer to an 11.5. I believe this comes from a strange design in the heel cup. It feels like it’s meant to lock the heel in place, but instead it pushes my foot forward, causing my toes to hit the front of the shoe with every stride. The sole and cushioning also felt off. Instead of the neutral, predictable ride I expect from the Ghost line, the shoe made me overpronate to the point where I had to actively think about my foot strike just to stay comfortable. That’s something I’ve never had to do in previous Ghost models. On top of that, the upper feels significantly tighter. There’s noticeable pressure and pinching across the top of my foot, and the toe box feels smaller than what a longtime Ghost runner is used to. Overall, this was a major disappointment. I honestly regret buying these, which is something I never thought I’d say about a Brooks Ghost shoe. After more than a decade of loyalty to this line, the Ghost 17 has me seriously considering a different model—or even a different brand altogether.

Always dependable

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great looking shoe and always a good fit for my son. Ghost has been his go to for the past several years and it’s nice to find the larger sizes available in a shoe of this quality.

Inside eyelets rub directly on the inside ankles

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I have purchased at least 6 pairs of Ghost shoes and have liked them all except for the 17. The top inside eyelet on each shoe is manufactured so that is directly over each ankle and rubs with every step. I hope the 18 changes this as I want to continue to buy this shoe. I will be returning.

Rubs inside ankles.

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I have had at least 7 pairs of Ghost and the design has changed. The top eyelet on the inside of each shoe now is directly over the ankles, so every step you take rubs directly on the ankle. I hope the design will change with the next Ghost as I am a fan of the shoe and have been for nearly a decade.

Ghost is still my go-to for running

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ghost is still my favorite running shoe. It provides comfort and stability for middle distance through longer runs. I decided to give the Trace a try because of the lower price point. However, the Trace is definitely not a good choice for runs of 5k or more.

I made the switch to Ghost

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent shoe! I have worn New Balance for 25 years but their shoes have too much padding inside so I switched to Brooks and I am now wearing the GHOST. This shoe is a much better fit for me and you have a new customer!

I was a former athlete a football player at Florida State University and always was pretty athletic these shoes at 54 years old helped me find my way back to this athleticism.
