Metcon 7 vs 6

Originally posted on Nike

Ok. I am a true Metcon 6 fan, I have four different pairs of 6’s. I loved this light green color in the 7’s and decided to give them a try. My honest opinion, they are ok. I am keeping them because of the color, which is phenomenal. It is true, they do run small, highly recommend a 1/2 size bigger. I typically wear a 7, and went with 7.5. Fit is the same as far as the size. I don’t feel the toe box is narrow, maybe because you have to go up a 1/2 size. They appear to be a little more bulky than the 6’s. Nothing that I can’t handle. I have added a photo so you can visually see the difference in the 6 and 7’s. Green is the 7.5 size, white is size 7. (Please excuse my “white” ones. I’ve had them awhile and am actually waiting on a new pair that I found on a different site, to get here. lol)

Go for the basic Metcon.. this is not the shoe.

Originally posted on Nike

If you are looking for a light-weight training shoe - this is NOT it. It is so uncomfortable and way to heavy. Even for an everyday shoe wear. Stick with a the basic Metcon.

A+ Generalist Gym Shoe

Originally posted on Nike

Love these as an all over gym shoe. Nice wide toe box and sturdy construction all over. The inside of the heel did feel a little snug at first but I think I just needed to get familiar with the particular sensory feedback of the shoe. Walking on the treadmill, lifting (squat, deads) and machines all feel fine and supported. The look of the design is also a huge plus nobody wants an ugly shoe. I normally wear a 10 but went with a 10.5 after reading reviews and asking around. Glad I did it fits 👌🏾 perfect.

Sturdy & Supportive

Originally posted on Nike

Perfect fit even with orthodics! I tried the Metcon years ago and didn't like them, but the Metcon 7 seems much improved, super sturdy and supportive for HIIT workouts, and an eye-popping color scheme for extra workout inspiration.

Run small. Size up 1/2 size.

Originally posted on Nike

Great shoes but they definitely run small. I should have ordered 1/2 a size larger at least.

Bring the first version back!

Originally posted on Nike

I have the first versions and they were incredible. The body was flex but had structure on the bottom. This new version is hard, cheap feeling and the padding in the back pushes your foot forward too far. Not a good shoe. They need to bring the first versions back

Heavy

Originally posted on Nike

I’ve had several pairs of the metcon 6. I switched to and the metcon 7 due to color and size availability. The metcon 7 is heavier and not as comfortable.

Not good for training at all

Originally posted on Nike

Please Nike, why do you keep updating Metcons and making them worse? Version 5’s were elite and I still wear mine daily for training. Version 7 is stiff in the sole, too padded and chunky and feels like a lifestyle shoe instead of a functional training shoe. Please, please, please, change back to the older more flexible ‘free’ style that feels so good to workout in.

Very comfortable from the first wear

Yes, I recommend this

So comfortable - it is like walking on sponge! Great support in weights classes. Best Metcons have ever bought, and have not even had to wear them in.

arch support is so uncomfortable

Originally posted on Nike

I've been a huge fan of the Nike Metcon line, including both the regular and the free. These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They changed the midfoot and arch support, and it is so uncomfortable. I felt like I was standing on a lacrosse ball. My feet were so sore and would cramp up from wearing these, so much that I had to return them. Fits nothing like previous versions of the Retcon Free and Metcon, unfortunately.

Bring back the 6’s

Originally posted on Nike

I will be returning these and scouring the internet for the previous version. These are very bulky and uncomfortable. Not what I was hoping for at all. The last version was perfection….

Disappointed

Originally posted on Nike

I’m so disappointed in these shoes. Comparing them to the Metcon 6, the toe box on the 7’s are narrow and the tongue is huge. The laces are incredibly short. I doubt this is a shoe I could work out in every day like I could the Metcon 6. The shoe overall is more bulky and less flexible. This feels more like a lifestyle shoe instead of something you would workout in.

New update is no longer the best workout shoe.

Originally posted on Nike

I have been wearing metcon free for HITT/lifting workouts for over 6 years. They have been wonderful. The 7’s have a new added stripe of canvas/rubber for the laces that runs to the sole. Every move that involved a bend at the toe (lunges, bear stance ect) it dug into my foot. This is first version to do this. I am so disappointed.

Blisters

Originally posted on Nike

This is shoe is nice, but I got blisters on the back of my heel. The flap in the back of the shoe continues to rub making the shoe really comfortable. The strap you pull to put the shoe on this was rubbing and caused painful blisters.

Disappointed in the style

Originally posted on Nike

The Free Metcon 7 is stable and comfortable. But really ugly. The tongue is super padded and so is the collar. They look kinda clunky. I love the 5…don’t get why Nike keeps messing with design without improving. Disappointed in the 7s.
