I bought this dress for a specific occasion and was happy with it until I tried it on - it’s massive! I’m generally a size 12/14 so, having read previous reviews, I ordered a 10. Well, I could have used it as a tent, it’s so huge and it totally swamped me. As I really liked it I tried to reorder it in a size 8 but it was out of stock so I’m going to (sadly) return it. One other point to the M&S merchandisers - the detachable slip is completely superfluous to requirements, the dress is not see-through and the slip is of a horrible sticky material anyway in this hot weather…

I really like the dress. After reading reviews I brought a size 12 (usually a 14-16) and even then could have brought a 10. The brown slip underneath was far too tight and I removed it. Will wear my own vest underneath for daytime wear and without for my holiday. Lovely material, pattern and colour. Think it looks more expensive than it was. Can be dressed up or down. Very happy with this stylish dress.

Great floaty dress for hot summer days. I took the advice of other reviewers and went down a size from 10 to 8 and the fit is perfect. Like other reviewers, I cannot fathom why M&S put a nasty clingy fitting slip made of synthetic material inside a cotton dress. The dress is not remotely see through so the slip serves no purpose. I removed it and threw it into textile recycling as soon as I'd tried the dress on.

Loved this dress but had to send the first one back as it was to big even though I had ordered a smaller size after reading the reviews, It ended up being 2 sizes smaller, the underskirt was a joke so small I couldn't get it on at least it's not needed, I think we should be sent a voucher to compensate this M& S. ?

Great that the dress is available in petite I'm just under 5ft2 so dress is maxi length on me which I dont mind. Went a size smaller after reading other reviews & fit is great. Agree with others about the under skirt which is not needed as material is not see through & is much cooler without it

Nice design but Not Petite!
Bought for holiday abroad. Very large fit, had to go down two sizes. Kept as liked the design and material but had to have it shortened by about six inches. First time I’ve had to have a petite dress altered in length.

Lovely dress, very loose and comfortable for the summer heat. I loosened the tie at the back of the neck so that the fabric covered my bra straps. It has a dropped waistline so it hangs down at sides a bit. When the weather is cooler I am lucky to have a brown linen jacket which although a different brown looks good with it. An off white denim jacket also works well.
