I am sorry but I had not tried to older version many other reviews are mentioning but I can say the difference the first time I tried this after using cheap everyday supermarket moisturiser was unbelievable. I am a 51 year old male & my skin has never felt so good. Will not be going back to cheaper brands ever again. Totally recommend.

I see reviews about this product asking for the old Maximum Hydrator back but I think they are 2 completely different products for different skin types. I have normal / oily skin and this new Maximum Hydrator works very well. It is a great moisturizer with a great texture and as most Clinique products, it does not contain any alcohol and fragrance. The only flaw is the packaging. I would give it 5 stars if it came in a pump bottle like the Activated Water Gel for men. But I highly recommend!

Why change the best Men's moisturiser's to this product? I used the previous product for years and years, putting up with the annual price hike through loyalty. I'm not impressed with this blue sticky gunk of a moisture.

I suffer from dry skin, which the old moistureiser cleared up and kept at bay. The new one however, brought back all the old issues within a week of use! Please bring back the old cream, and get rid of this gel!

Like so many others I had been using the old Max Hydrator for many years and it was the only moisturiser that cured my rosacea. It was superb! This new product is a complete waste on money. It does not have any of the benefits of the previous version and my rosacea has returned. Please can we have the old product back. It took me years to discover a moisturiser that works and now you have withdrawn it. Clinique, you really need to get your act together on this as so many unfortunate men like myself relied on the old product for relief.

I used the previous version for many years and thought that it was a fantastic product. This new "improved" version is more "greasy" and doesn't appear to be as proficient at moisturising my face.

I'd been using the former maximum hydrator (white cream) for years. It was very effective at soothing my skin and calming my rosacea. When I couldn't find it, Clinique staff recommended I try this product instead. There was no comparison: within 30 minutes my skin felt as if I hadn't used the moisturiser. It was not effective at soothing my skin, leaving me with red patches and rosacea flair ups. I am very disappointed. Please, clinique, bring back the old maximum hydrator product.

With the water in my area constantly leaving my face and arms dryer than normal, this moisturiser works perfect in keeping me hydrated.

A little goes a long way - non greasy and seriously effective on dry skin - lasts all day too.

I'm not usually into grooming products but my girlfriend uses the same pink one religiously and has been trying to get me to use it for a while. Eventually she cracked and bought me one of these. I tend to get dry skin but find other products are usually too oily. This sorts my skin and leaves no shine when I use it and it's blue!

I've used this now for a few weeks, really been enjoying it, very hydrating and great for my dry skin. Keeps everything hydrated for the whole day.

My son has been using the old formula for years for his red, patchy and very dry skin which was great. This new product is totally different, why not just add this new cream to your products and keep the old one as new is not always best. The new formula does not work at all. We will definitely not buy again as it's making his skin worse. So disappointed with clinique. I have been trying everywhere for stocks of the old product to no avail. Clinique obviously dont want to keep their long standing clients. Just change the packaging if you want something new that way you keep old and get new as well. My son who is 22 who I introduced would definitely not recommend.
