Quite good but would like slip-on form

They feel quite good, but I would prefer a slip-on form similar to Skechers.

Perfect fit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect fit for me. Sole is not too thick. Very comfortable shoe to wear on my 12 hour shifts. I tried many different brands and many different shoes from Brooks and this one was the perfect one.

Thicker inner sole??
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
I like the Trace 4. They are a good bargain....a comfortable walking show at a reasonable price. One improvement I would suggest: the sole needs more cushion. When walking in them, I can fell the tread of the sole on the bottom of my feet. More cushion is needed....or a thicker inner sole.

Runs small, is darker than pictured, styling ok.
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
Bought shoe in the same size as my last Brooks pair, but this shoe is at least a half size smaller. Itās also much darker than the photos showed. Had to return for too tight of a fit and didnāt reorder due to it being darker than pictured. I canāt comment on quality or stability as it was too tight to wear. Styling was decent.

So uncomfortable

Im a Trace fan, but these Trace 4's are so uncomfortable, and make my feet hurt everytime I put them on. Wish I would have bought another pair of Trace 3's.

As odd as it may sound, I feel like the color scheme of the shoe affects the fit of the shoe, but Iām sure itās just in my head! I highly recommend the TRACE series shoes!

Brooks ruined the Ghost with the Ghost 17 ā luckily there's the Trace 4
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've run in the Brooks Ghost since its inception but the Ghost 17 has been redesigned and rendered too soft and unstable, not offering enough support and making my knees painful after a single run. I was told that The Trace 4 is most like the Ghost 16/15 in terms of cushioning support and stability, so desperate as I was, I tried it. The Trace 4 is not the Ghost 16. The upper fits looser and it just doesn't hug my foot the way the Ghost does, but I can run in it without my knees hurting. It seems to offer the firmer but still adequately cushioned support of the Ghost, prior to the new Ghost 17. Until the Ghost is redesigned and leaves the stacked over-cushion craze behind I'm in the Trace 4 or another brand of shoe.

Do not pull on the tongue loop.
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
The loop on the tongue tore off while pulling on the left shoe. If it is not meant to be used to assist with putting on the shoe, do not make it a loop. Otherwise, the shoe is good overall.

Potential with a glaring issue
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes had potentialāseemingly decent breathability, adequate tread depth, balanced midsole firmness/cushion, toe box fabric that wasnāt overly roomy, etc. However, the cut of the ankle made these impossible for me to use. The material that curved down from the last eyelet directly hit my exterior ankle bones. (And of lesser concern, the heel tab was made of ridiculously cheap felt.)
