They share health inspiration and ideas with their thousands of Instagram followers for a living, so who better to turn to for advice on exercise and fitness gear than Madeleine Shaw and Lottie Murphy?
“I do yoga almost every morning. It’s good exercise but also makes me feel connected and relaxed.
“Another way I keep fit is putting my son in his baby carrier and going for long walks, stopping to do lunges and squats.
“Since becoming a mum I have to be more efficient with my time – I don’t have the luxury of travelling across London for a long yoga class. When looking for sports gear, a flattering fit is really important to me.
“I also look for supportive bras with a nice shape, and fabrics you can wash frequently without them losing structure.”
“My typical week includes three Pilates sessions, a run and a weights-based class such as F45. For Pilates, I look for fitness gear that won’t dig in when I’m on the floor; I like soft, smooth materials.
“A loose T-shirt is great for running but for Pilates it’s also important not to have anything too baggy, as the teacher needs to see you have correct alignment of the hips and lower spine.
“My top tip for anyone taking up a new exercise regime is not to go too extreme – think about whether your new lifestyle is sustainable 365 days a year. And if you’re lacking motivation, concentrate on the feeling you’ll get after a workout.”
