Gainsborough Office Desk

Yes indeed - I have waited a long time to have my desk and I am extremely pleased with the product and price of the Gainsborough Office Desk. The oak colour and desk design were a surprise but a welcome one. A steal as far as I am concerned. I can't say this for all your products but someone had their head screwed on when they spotted this one. Thank you and by the way your delivery staff were very good and just made the whole purchasing experience that much better. Aaaah a big kiss for everyone. Ta

I read the reviews before buying and they are true this is a very good quality desk, drawers are soft closing and general feel is very good. It is big by any desk standards so measure out your space first. The desk arrives in 3 sections, and is bolted together with 4 screws, which means if you ever need to move it you can, the way it is built the join is thorough and un noticible. Some people were concerned about file drawers, but I have put slide files in and they are smooth and fine I think the issue is if you have high sitting name tags at top of file, but its not an issue for me. I also bought the "bedside table" to match desk, basically this is a set of three drawers, these also are good quality and I would also recommend, the only thing I would say is the drawers have a frosted pale grey glass top on them which is not in keeping with the desk colours, but as its quite neutral it blends in fine. Also if I could make one change to the desk, It would be utilising the empty space at the back of the drawers, as the desk is so deep, the drawers end at the back and there is hollow space sealed off in the desk, I would have put 2 shallow doors here for extra storage, but this is a minor point. The delivery men were excellent, I don't like workmen coming into our house but these men were polite, efficient and very quick they also wore shoe covers to save our carpets. Highly recommend if you need a large desk.

Lovely looking desk, but the runners in the filing drawer are wooden and resist the files moving smoothly. Also, the drawer is too shallow and file labels catch as you try to close the drawer. If anyone has solved this problem, please add a note!

Prompt service by M & S delivery guys in & out in 30 minutes, easily set up. Although I would suggest to make sure that the area you want it positioned in to be clear as once they build it you'd need to disassemble it again in order to move it with it only being held together by centre drawer. Good sized desk plenty drawer space with the soft close function. Nice little drawer dividers in centre drawer. Happy with my purchase Mike

Very happy with my new desk which certainly has the capacity to store all my files and paperwork! One niggle is that the standard label holders, to identify files were too high and catch when closing the drawers! Am searching for alternative labelling !

The desk is nicely made If your house is small you need to realise that this is a big desk! Filing drawers are very poor. For a start they are only capable of taking A4 file folders. Most desks are wider drawers that take Foolscap size Also there is very little room above the files once they are in position. This means lack of space to put name headers on the files and any standard headers put on just catch the top all the time when drawers are pulled out or pushed in - A modification is needed for this. The runners that the files rest on in one drawer are warped so the files won't rest on it properly Also top drawers on each pedestal are very shallow This desk matches the tall Gainsborough storage unit. The storage unit is excellent for storing files Just need a 2 drawer filing cabinet to match the desk as the filing drawers are also not very capacious Summary - looks very good - but lacks functional space

The desk is really solid and well made. Very heavy! Difficult for one person to move on their own. Lots of draw space

I love this desk. I bought it for my study at home and am really pleased with it. It isn't cheap but it's very solidly built, looks great and always gets admiring comments. It is quite large but it comes in three parts and the excellent delivery men build it for you so it will fit through a normal size door.
