step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large casserole dish over medium-high heat.
step 2
Add the meatballs (1 pack) and cook for 8 minutes, turning regularly, until golden brown. Remove from the pan and add in the onion (1), carrots (2), celery (2) and potatoes (2). Cook for 5 minutes then add the flour (1 tbsp) and mix well.
step 3
Add the tomato purée (2 tbsp) and red wine flavour pots (2) along with 500ml of water.
step 4
Add the meatballs back to the pan and simmer for 15 minutes, until thickened.
step 5
Meanwhile, add the dumplings sachet contents (1 pack) to a large mixing bowl. Add 100ml of cold water and mix until you have a smooth, sticky dough. Stir through 100g of grated cheddar (100 g). With floured hands, divide the mix into 6 dumplings.
step 6
Arrange the dumplings on top of the stew and top with the remaining cheddar (50 g). Pop into the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
