So good I re-designed them to accommodate an in the shoe soft cast after breaking my leg. I could trust no other shoe for stability and grip. I cut the speed laces and installed them differently so it would open wide enough. LOVE!

The fourth time I wore the shoe it encountered water for the first time. Both shoes failed to keep water out with the right being particularly bad.

Great everyday trainer shoes

This is my second pair, the first lasted a year and did everything I asked of them. I generally wear one pair of shoes exclusively when not at work, so I need something that does everything. I was really impressed with the confidence inspiring grip in all conditions, they also do a good job of keeping feet dry in rain and shallow puddles. I've attached photos of my previous pair to give an idea of wear after a year of hard use. The sole has broken down as you can see, but i put that down to hill walking over sharp rocks and stones. I think for the price they are great quality and also look good. I expect the second pair to last just as well.

I discovered Solomon shoes by chance when walking across Northern Spain on a 500 mile walk a few years ago. On the first day of walking the trail, my shoes (also a big name brand, I had been training in for a few weeks suddenly failed) I was able to field repair them to wear until I reached the nearest city. I found a store that sold Solomons and they felt comfortable and were really solid straight out of the box (I still had nearly a month of walking and approximately 400 more miles to go) I purchased them and it was a really good decision...they performed great and I had no complaints about the shoe for that journey. My girlfriend and I have grown to choose and recommend Solomons on our other long walks and have really appreciated what we like about the shoes that we have used. So what are the things we like about Solomons?... starting with a very stable and what I feel is a normal sole (not overdone and way too wide "platform-ish" like another popular big brand) the toe box (and a half sized up) helps with toe and foot swelling over long days of walking. The tread is great for walking over different terrain (gravel, asphalt, concrete and of course pebbles and rocks). We also have noticed small rocks don't usually get stuck in the treads (the shoes I mentioned at the start of this review that had failed were always getting small and large rocks stuck in the tread) We use Solomon styles with gore-tex for hiking. So....overall we really both think Solomons are great for long hiking and everyday usage.

The Perfect Boot Alternative for Canadian Seasons

I bought the X Ultra 360 GTX as a lighter alternative to heavy boots for the Fall, Winter, and Spring in Canada. They are the perfect solution for city life—they handle snow and rain perfectly while keeping my feet dry. They feel firm, offer great traction on slippery surfaces, and are comfortable for long walks without looking like a bulky hiking boot. Fit Tip: These run true to size, though they have a nice, snug feel that provides great stability. Highly recommend if you're tired of clunky boots but still need serious weather protection!

Not the most comfortable hiking shoes

I’ve used these shoes for 11 months now, walks over varied terrain, and have found it difficult to adjust the lacing in order to relieve tightness across the forefoot without the heel area becoming loose. The forefoot seems to be tight and is uncomfortable, the shoes are the same size as previous Salomon trek/trail shoes I have used over the years (a half size bigger than I use with other brands). I’ve never suffered from corms before but have developed them on both my little toes, which I think is a consequence of daily walks using these shoes. It’s a shame as previous Salomon shoes I’ve used have been exemplary.

I’ve been using the shoe preferring them to boots for years. Replacing the old for new. The latest does not disappoint. Solid sole with a great upper fits straight away didn’t need to break in.

Love the shoe, but not Waterproof!

Gore-Tex is supposed to be waterproof, but these shoes are not! They do okay to repel a bit of water when walking on wet grass etc. but leak in when actually in rain or a little snow.

The shoes is fine for dry and light weather but as soon as the rain turns heavy the shoe leaks, not sure Gore Tex is what it used to be!!!

The shoe overall is solid. However it caused quite some discomfort on toes and arch after a couple of hours hiking in them. They also started ungluing after 2 uses.

Caused Extreme Toe Pain

I could have just ordered the wrong size, however I ordered the size I am in every other shoe I own and it had absolutely destroyed my toes. They had no room to move at all and kept slamming against the shoe. If you really insist on getting these, definitely try some on in-store as these fit poorly.
