Best consumable hiking boot at the price

I have bought these boots 10 times and never regretted it. I am very tough on shoes. I have them resoled with harder rubber when they wear down. The upper lasts forever at the stitching, but delaminates at the glued toe, every time. The speed hooks break and the metal thread holes pop out. I have my cobbler swap them to eyelets. I keep a pair of broken in hikers built and ready to go, and working on a second build to have as a mailable reserve pair for a trip on the AT. I keep two old pairs, one as painting shoes, the other for tar work. The rest were throwaways before I found a cobbler. The inside liner lasts forever. The insoles need to be swapped with the honeycombed Timberland Pro versions. Feels like walking on air. They can be totally saturated from wading through water and will air dry hanging on a pack while wearing slippers, but will dry on your feet if you have to. Pull the insoles out to speed the process. No break in period needed and they won't chafe your feet (if your feet are broken in). The biggest problem is the toe delaminating, it's inevitable. I am going to try one of the Loctite 400 series bottled glues, and possibly the Loctite PL 400 Subfloor tube to securely reattach the rubber, permanently, because the cobbler won't touch that. Again, I've spent over 1k on these shoes over the past decade and there isn't a better all purpose shoe. I believe in fixing things because you can usually make them better in the process. Would be a 5 star shoe if they fixed the lacing and toe.

You're paying for comfort, not longevity.

VERY comfortable boot for walking and casual hiking. I think of it as a hybrid work/hiking boot. Not exceptional at either task but will get the job done doing both. Really my only big complaint is that it has an unusually low tread life. I suspect the softer rubber is what helps to make it more comfortable than most boots I have tried in is price range. But the trade off unfortunately is that I can probably only get 2 years max of tread wear out of it. Which a little more than half of what I get out of my previous boots. That being said, I still don't regret buying them. But I will be keeping my eye out for alternatives.

Every time I buy a new pair the quality is worse

Originally posted on timberland.com

No, I don't recommend this

My first pair I bought 18 years ago and they lasted 8 years without any care at all. Every pair after that I'm lucky to get a year out of them. My latest pair was the worst with lots of loose grain that creases in a very uncomfortable way. Awful quality at this point and will be my last pair .

Best and Only Hiking Boots I Use

Originally posted on timberland.com

I had these for about 3 years in total. I beat them to the brim from the mountains in Montana to the deserts in Big Bend, Texas. Not once did I ever have any problem with them and these are the only reliable pair of hiking/work boots I will ever want to use. The only reason I got rid of them was because I wore down the tread too much and started slipping! It only sucks because now I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Disappointed as boots started falling apart after only 3 months. I use the boots daily to walk my dog in the woods for about 2 miles per day. Had another brand that lasted 12 YEARS!!

Excellent hiking boot

I have bad feet (narrow + fallen arches) and am a frequent hiker, and Timberland boots are the only ones that work for me. Was in the Smoky Mountains last week doing dayhikes to break-in this new pair and they felt good. I had the Timberland predecessor to these boots and they lasted about 5 years with weekly use on rough trails. #sweepstakes #SWEEPSTAKES

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a wildlife photographer. They are so comfortable.\ I can wear these all day. This is my 4th pair! I love that they are waterproof, as I never know when I may be in water I spray with premerin to keep the tics away.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great lightweight waterproof hiking boot. Between hiking and general wear I put several hundred miles on a pair I bought 3 years ago and just purchased these as a replacement pair. These will be my preferred hiking boot as long as Timberland makes them.
