Emily LambeBest bedding for all seasons
Our brilliant selection of bedding includes the Body Sensor range, which features clever tech to regulate body temperature. It keeps you cool when it’s warm and cosy when it’s cold, to help you get a great night’s sleep, whatever the weather.
The collection includes temperature-regulating duvets in four tog ratings from 1 to 10.5 tog (the higher the number, the warmer the duvet), pillows and a mattress topper, as well as temperature-regulating duvet covers, pillowcases and fitted sheets to dress your bed in a range of soft, soothing shades.
Best bedding for allergies
One of the biggest causes of allergies is dust mites which are tiny insects found in household dust. Symptoms are similar to those of pollen allergies: sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes, but can also include wheezing and shortness of breath, which is the last thing you want when you’re trying to nod off. Our range of anti-allergy bedding, which includes pillows and duvets, is proven to reduce dust mites.
Struggling with other sleep issues? We have a range of solutions targeting specific sleep concerns, including a pillow to ease neck pain and a supportive body pillow that can also aid sleep during pregnancy.
Best lighting for your bedroom
From streetlights and your neighbour’s garden lanterns to light evenings and early sunrises, brightness outside your bedroom can stop you getting to sleep or wake you up prematurely. Block it out with our blackout curtains.
It’s not just the rays coming in: getting your bedroom lighting right can help you sleep better. Bedside table lamps will help to create a warm, relaxing environment. Try to avoid flipping on a bright ceiling light on your way to bed, consider fitting a dimmer switch, and shut down screens an hour or two before bed.
Flat sheet vs. fitted sheet
One of the first steps in making your cosiest-ever bed is picking out the right bed sheets. Not sure you need a flat sheet or a fitted sheet? The difference is straightforward:
Fitted sheet: A fitted sheet has elasticated corners and fits snugly around the mattress. They’re a little tricky to fold but easy to put on the bed as the elastic keeps it in place. If you have a mattress with a pillow-top or a mattress pad, look for an extra-deep fitted sheet for a better fit.
Flat sheet: A flat sheet has no elastic. It's usually used in addition to a fitted sheet, creating an extra layer between you and the duvet. They’re not always necessary if you use a washable duvet cover but they can add a luxurious hotel-like feel to your bedding.
How to choose the right pillow
Choosing the right pillow comes down to a few different factors, most important of which is sleeping position:
Side: if you sleep on your side, you’ll need a taller, firm pillow to fill the gap between your head and shoulders.
Stomach: stomach sleepers require a soft, thin pillow to avoid neck strain and keep the spine aligned.
Back: back sleepers need to support the natural curve of the neck with a medium height pillow.
Combination: if you move around or sleep in a combination of positions, a medium-firm adaptable pillow is ideal.
You may also want to consider material. Feather and down pillows are soft and easy to mould, while memory foam is good for pressure relief. Hollowfibre is lightweight and breathable.
Benefits of a mattress topper
If your mattress needs replacing but you don’t want to buy a new one yet, a mattress topper may be the perfect solution. This simple upgrade can take your bed to the next level, providing better temperature regulation, pressure relief and comfort. Plus, the added layer helps protect the mattress from dust mites and sweat. Some are machine washable, improving your overall sleep hygiene.
In the warmer months, look to our cooling mattress topper with Body Sensor technology that regulates your body temperature as you sleep. To make your bed as soft as a cloud, try our duck feather and down mattress topper with a pure cotton cover. If you’re struggling with aches and pains, our memory foam mattress topper cradles your body with pressure point relief.
