First running vest for an upcoming 50k and couldn't be happier. Have worn it for a few 13-15 mile runs already and love it. Can hardly tell it there, great storage and access to gels, water, etc. Perfect

I have enjoyed this running vest. It does well with odor and fit is good. Only downside I’ve ran into, that I didn’t really see people talk about when purchasing, is color choice. I got black and it definitely soaks up the sun. If you running in warm sunny areas, I would recommend a lighter color.

Best vest I’ve ever owned. You don’t need toy ale the water bottles out on runs, you literally just suck up the water and when you fill them you can take them out and they slide back in much easier when full.

I wanna give my honest thoughts about the product. I found that it is very lightweight, very breathable with lots of pockets that are great for my marathon training right now the only thing that’s really bothering me is the string that goes around the flask in the front of the vest to hold the flask up to keep them from sinking down into the pocket, doesn’t do a good job at holding them up. but it doesn’t happen all the time either so don’t let that deter you overall really great product. I love it.

I bought this for use as my mandatory 8lb pack for a 53 km xc ski event (the Norwegian Birkebeiner). I used it for training as well as the event and never really noticed the weight I had distributed between the front and back. It fit well with no cutting in of straps that bothered me on other backpacks I had tried. very comfortable and snacks and drinks were easily accessible

The vest I reach for when I don't need multiple pockets on the front. When I do, I use my ADV. I like that the adjustable cords now have an attachment to clip it out of the way.

Active Skin8 - The Vest That Truly Disappears

After putting the Salomon Active Skin 8 through its paces over my last 5 runs, the verdict is in: this is a game-changer for anyone looking to balance capacity with a lightweight feel. Whether you are doing short recovery runs or long-distance marathon prep, this vest sets a high bar for comfort. 1. The "Invisible" Fit The most striking feature of the Active Skin 8 is its ergonomics. Thanks to the SensiFit™ construction, the vest offers a snug, "second-skin" feel. It wraps around the torso without being restrictive, allowing for natural expansion of the lungs while moving. After a few kilometers, you genuinely forget you are wearing it. 2. Zero-Bounce Performance One of the biggest frustrations with hydration vests is the "jiggle" or bounce from gear stored in the back. Salomon has solved this brilliantly. Rock-solid stability: You can stash a jacket, nutrition, or even your phone in the rear pocket and completely forget it’s there. Even as you pick up the pace or hit technical sections, the load remains perfectly centered and stable. There is no distracting movement or chafing. 3. Front Hydration and Accessibility The front pockets for the soft flasks are positioned intuitively, making hydration easy even when your heart rate is high. The additional stretch pockets are perfect for managing gels and salt tabs on the fly without needing to break your stride. Bottom Line after 5 Runs For a runner looking for a reliable partner that stays out of the way, the Active Skin 8 is a fantastic investment. It provides the storage you need with the stability you want, allowing you to focus entirely on your form and the road ahead. The Highlights: Ergonomic design: No pressure points or restrictive straps. Superior stability: Zero bounce in the rear compartment. Breathability: Excellent moisture management during intense efforts.

Used it for my first marathon and it felt like second skin. Normally I get overstimulated with moving fabrics and sweat, but I was surprised by how natural this felt. No chafing, lots of pockets and space to carry more things in the back. The flasks were sufficient for my trainings.

This fits in perfectly for all activities and needs, for road running and for trails. Good that Salomon has this size between Active 4 and 12. Just need to figure out the right size as I my chest size is 43, I had to try both XL and L and it's bit of confusion, which one to pick.

overall its a nice running vest, I only had one issue with..I went with my measurements wearing a t-shirt..but the vest was extreme snug even though its suppose to be my size, which would be fine, but right now its winter and I can't wear it since I have to wear a hoodie and the vest won't fit, so I recommend going a little bigger you can make them tighter with draw strings but you can't get it to loose if you order your exact measurement, so I can only really say I haven't ran in it but it seems very light

I’ve put the Active Skin 8 through real use — a 50K ultramarathon, a 20-mile long run, and even dirt bike riding — and it’s been rock solid every time. It stays snug with zero bounce, is comfortable for hours, and makes it easy to stay hydrated without breaking stride. On long runs it disappeared on my body, and off the trail it still held up perfectly while riding, dust and all. If you need a vest that can handle serious mileage and high-output days, this one delivers.
