Method

step 1
Preheat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7. Drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil over the chicken (1) and rub the coffee spice mix (1 pack) all over the chicken. Pour out two-thirds of the lager (440 ml) from the can (save to drink alongside the chicken, if you like!), and then slide the chicken onto the can, so it’s standing upright.
step 2
Place on a lined oven tray and roast for 20 minutes, before lowering the temperature to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Cook for a further 45 minutes.
step 3
Meanwhile, add the wedges (600 g) to a lined baking tray and cook for 30 minutes.
step 4
Remove the chicken from the oven and brush with the coffee barbecue sauce. Roast for another 10-15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through. To check it’s done, insert a knife into the thickest part of the thigh – the juices should run clear.
step 5
Carve the chicken and serve alongside the sweet potatoes and coleslaw (1 pack), or any sides you’d like.
