Peel, core and roughly dice the Bramley apples (4). Add to a large saucepan with the brown sugar (100 g) and 2 tbsp water and gently bring up to a medium heat. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apple has begun to break down but still retains some texture.

Add the blackberries (150 g) to the apple, stir and cook for a further 3-4 minutes until they just start to soften.

Divide the mixture between 4 bowls, crumble an cookie (4) over each and serve with a dollop of clotted cream (1 pot) and some mixed nuts (1 handful), if you like.
