Other than the price, most of the set was good. I love the water and how you can change the plants around, the whole set just looks so amazing! However when building 2 of the brown bricks making up the building broke, and although I replaced them with my own pieces, I think lego need to improve their bricks, as brand new bricks shouldn't break when placing the down

One of my favorite Lego sets that I've built

Very fun building experience the whole way through, building the water was my favorite part. It has good play value with a lot of open space and the ability to switch around the trees, bamboo, and statue to different spots. The aesthetic of the set is just overall really beautiful and it works so well as a display piece. Easily one of the most beautiful sets lego has put out in a long time

Builder enjoyed it; made it for his 80yo father. Loved the frog; added a few more "flowers" from the bonsai tree. Looks wonderful.

I loved it, it looks really pretty in my room next to the lego bamboo but there was one problem with putting the house. It was really hard to put the house on the base but over all Loved it!

A Peaceful, Fun, and Clever Build

This is a satisfying detailed build and well worth its price. I enjoyed the aesthetic dimension of this experience- the instructions gently engage the builder in thinking of the principles of zen architecture or design- and encourage creativity by cleverly including flexible (replantable?) trees, plates, and ornaments. The novelty and gentle beauty made this one of my favourite sets to date, and at this price, feels like a steal.

Very enjoyable build. I love LEGO because of all the hidden surprises they put in their sets. When you least expect it, they slip in a fun little detail. This set has that!

Better than the photos, definitely 5 stars

Wonderful build! This set looks way better in person (not to say the photos look bad). Not sure if it was intentional or not, but the garden is definitely minifig scale! While the set doesn't come any minfigs, I enjoy putting minfigs in the gardens and creating scenes. Not any boundary-push build techniques, but the bridge is neat, and I love all of the plants can be easily rearranged. With some relatively easy modifications this set would be an excellent addition to a modular city! Or just to have on your desk, so can imagine strolling through the garden instead of sitting through another meeting that could have been an email.

Would look great on a shelf but this will at some point be put as a garden in my planned city build. Great that the trees can be re-aranged for personal preferense.

This is one of my favourite builds to date. There is variation during the course of the build, minimal repetition and I love how it is possible to rearrange the trees. It is the latter feature which makes this different to other lego builds. More like this please

This is an extremely well designed and beautiful set. I really like how the various trees can be arranged to go in different holes, how the translucent tiles overlap different colors of ground, and the small details like the green tea in the tea set and koi on some of the fish tiles. All of this is great. The manual is a little hard to read with various colors of gray on a gray background, I would prefer things to be a bit higher contrast, but it's workable. This was a really fun build and looks great on display.

I've always had an interest in Japanese culture, so this little teahouse and garden makes the perfect little display piece. It's not really playable, but that's obvious enough, but it makes up for it by enlivening the space it takes up.

I'd list this as one of my most favorite sets to build. Highly detailed throughout with some interesting facts about various design elements. No stickers! Great use of subtle elevation, color, landscape, and other natural elements found within actual gardens of this type. AND it looks great on display from every angle!

This was actually a gift from someone who knows I love Lego and it is perfect for me. Love, love love this set. Building it was complicated enough to last over a weekend and finished it is a beautiful display piece whether you like Lego or not. My only gripe is the small house like structure is difficult to set as you have to manually set foundation bricks at an angle, but pretty minor complaint. The layers at the bottom of the stand are particularly great as all the fish and elements are printed on the bricks - Lego take note we don't like stickers lol. Would recommend.

I’m new to LEGO building, only recently trying it for the first time, to help a young grandchild build a set. I had a great time and when I discovered there were sets with themes targeted to adults, I decided to try this one because it was just so attractive. I loved the koi fish, and thought the moveable trees were a great idea - in effect you can make it look different every day, and I do move them around. The tea ceremony is beautiful, and I like being able to lift the roof off the building and peek inside. While of course I have no basis yet for comparison with building other sets, I found the instructions pretty straightforward, and the set strikes me as being very well thought out and designed. Loved it!
