TAKE A GANDER AT
OUR FESTIVE GEESE
Give a goose centre stage on your Christmas table with a magnificent bird from our seasonal Food to Order service
The plump, succulent goose has always been the traditional signifier of the arrival of Christmas, from the old nursery thyme that announces, “Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat,” to Dickens’s choice of a goose to grace the festive table of Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol. At some point, turkey surpassed a classic roast goose as the main course of choice come the big day, but I much prefer the richer, deeper flavour of the lesser-spotted Christmas goose. From the salted crispy skin of our traditionally hung British free-range goose (made to be cooked over your roast potatoes for extra richness) to our easy-carve goose packed with fruity pork and mulled spiced pear stuffing, we’ve got geese to tempt you to give a different bird the spotlight this year.
