YOUR PERFECT
WORKOUT LEGGINGS

Five women put our new Goodmove leggings through their paces. Which pair is right for you?

Fitness instructor Sarah Goldsack wears Go Easy leggings, designed for comfort

“When I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) five years ago, I thought I might never exercise again – a huge blow as I’d been a fitness instructor since I was 18. I decided to set up a different type of exercise class called Paracise, aimed at helping anyone, no matter their age or ability. I can’t do such high-intensity exercise as I used to and rely on a stick when I walk, but my leggings still need to be stretchy as well as comfy. I’ve been wearing M&S leggings since I set up my classes and clients always ask where I get them from. I never hesitate to tell them, as I know M&S activewear suits all shapes and sizes and caters for all tastes, whether you want plain styles or full-on patterns.”

Dance teacher Linda Cosgrove wears Go Move leggings, designed for movement

“I love teaching hip-hop and street dance to schoolchildren. My classes give them the chance to feel free, have fun and make friends. Seeing kids go from barely being able to move their feet in time to music to putting on a performance is so rewarding. The most important thing when I’m choosing leggings is that they allow me to move freely, especially as I love to do the splits when I’m teaching. I need to know they’ll keep their shape, won’t split if put to the test and aren’t see-through when I bend down – kids love nothing more than stating the obvious. M&S leggings tick all the boxes, and these have a pocket I can keep my phone or class notes in – so handy!”

Fitness enthusiast Kate Norcott wears Go Train leggings, designed for intense workouts

“Fitness has been a huge part of my life for years and now I have three children it’s even more important. Working out makes me feel strong and confident and gives me time to refocus, re-energise and clear my head. I like to mix it up, doing spin and HIIT classes, yoga and Pilates, lifting weights, and running cross country with friends, pushing my baby in the buggy. When it comes to leggings I always go for high-waisted styles. I’m quite tall and some brands pull down, which is uncomfortable, but that never happens with M&S styles. As well as staying in place, they’re brilliant at sculpting and they’re reasonably priced for the quality, which is a huge bonus.”

Personal trainer Nina Pascall wears Go Seamless leggings, designed with minimal seams

“Two years ago, when pregnant with my third child, I decided to turn my passion for exercise into a business and qualify as a personal trainer, specialising in pregnancy and prenatal exercise. The leggings I choose are vital to my teaching. Clients need to see exactly what I’m doing – movements and technique can be hidden in baggier clothes. I go for M&S leggings because they never lose their shape or go baggy at the knees. The fabric helps my legs look and feel toned and strong, plus they’re seamless so don’t leave ugly marks. As exercise is my job I practically live in activewear, so it’s important to have kit I feel comfortable wearing all day. I’ve tried many different brands to find the best fit and always come back to M&S.”

Media researcher Sandra Hilsdon wears Go Perform leggings, designed for high-impact training

“Ever since I hit my forties, I’ve taken on various fitness challenges, from muddy obstacle courses to climbing the Yorkshire three peaks. I never used to be so active, but I joined a gym to shift the weight I put on after going through the menopause at 43. Because I do such extreme activities, my leggings need to be durable and flexible and I have to be confident they’ll never let me down, which is exactly what I get with leggings from M&S. They have amazing moisture wicking properties, vital when you’re really pushing your body, and they support your muscles and help with recovery after a big challenge. Whether I’m doing a HIIT class in the gym or scrambling up a mountain, I want to be concentrating on that, not whether my leggings will be up to the job.”
