Method

step 1
Preheat the oven to 190°C/170° C fan/gas mark 5. Line a large baking tray with greaseproof paper.
step 2
Unfold the puff pastry (1 pack) and lightly roll it out a few times on a lightly floured surface until it is roughly 0.5cm thick. Using a sharp knife (or a heart-shaped cutter), cut out 12 heart shapes, approximately 8cm wide.
step 3
Spread the hearts out on the baking tray, leaving a 5cm gap between each one. Score a smaller heart on top, careful not to cut all the way through.
step 4
Spoon 1 tsp of the hazelnut creme (12 tsp) on top of the small heart and spread the creme over the small heart shape, careful not to go over the scored line.
step 5
Top each heart with a strawberry slice (3).
step 6
Brush the edges of the hearts with the beaten egg (1) and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they are a light golden colour.
step 7
Dust with the icing sugar (1 tbsp) and serve warm.
step 7 Dust with the icing sugar (1 tbsp) and serve warm.
