Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add the apples (6), lemon juice (1/2), cinnamon (1 tsp) and nutmeg (1/4 tsp). Add a splash of water and simmer for 5 minutes, until beginning to soften. Add the mincemeat (200 g) and mix through. Remove from the heat.

Meanwhile, in a food processor blitz the flour (100 g) and butter (75 g) together for a few seconds, until it resembles breadcrumbs (if you don’t have a food processor, rub the butter into the flour by hand).

Stir through the sugar (100 g), oats (50 g) and chopped nuts (100 g) and add a pinch of salt. Mix well.

Add the apple mixture to an ovenproof dish, and top with the crumble mixture. Bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown.

Serve with a dollop of salted caramel ice cream (as needed).
