Pure Wool Belted Midi Jumper Dress

When I first saw this dress I thought it looked perfect. First stumbling block were the sizes, I’m a 12/14, but the size nearest to this was S/M, next up was M/L. I never considered myself anything but a medium but certainly not S or L. Anyway, I chose S/M and when it arrived it fitted perfectly and I loved the dress, apart from the huge belt loops, which were not on my waist, too high. So I painstakingly unpicked them and now it’s perfect!

This is a great dress and I love it. It does come up really quite big so, having read the reviews, I ordered a size down and it fits well. The loops holding the belt are way too high for my waist, so I shall reconfigure -- I have a long back though, so it probably isn't the same for everyone.

Wonderful merino wool which is warm but not bulky to wear. Looks and feels wonderful! The style of the belt had me scratching my head for solutions. Wanted to keep the dress as loved how it feels but the style was off. The belt loops are way too high (more imperial bust line than cinched in waist) and they stick out like two handles: I looked like a teapot. The belt has a lovely big buckle on it but it disappears into the dress as it’s all black. I flipped the buckle round so the metal side shows and it works beautifully: making it a feature which is, IMO, what it should be. So I’ve made it work and I like wearing it when I ignore the belt loops (will be unpicking the stitches to remove them), wearing the belt at the narrowest point around my waist and wearing the belt with the silver buckle facing outwards. If I could attach a photo I would have done a before and after. When I wear the dress as I’ve described, it is a 5star dress. I am 5ft 2” and usually wear a size 10. This dress is fitted on me (hourglass figure and I prefer fitted to loose) and it comes down to ankle level.
