About this bottle: Late Bottle Vintage (LBV) are crafted from premium grapes picked in a single harvest. They were first marketed by Taylor's Alisatir Robertson in 1970, who recognised the value in creating a superior port that could be drunk earlier than traditional vintage ports. These LBV Ports, from hand harvested grapes grown in the Duoro Valley, are aged Ports, from hand harvested grapes grown in the Duoro Valley, are aged for between 4 and 6 year in large wooden casks to develop harmony and complexity. They are ready for drinking and do not require decanting. M&S winemaker Sue Daniels works with Taylor's David Guimaraens to select the very best lots to bottle as M&S LBV Port.

Good cross section of wines at a good standard.
Yes, I recommend this
Saint Clair - Sauvignon Blanc - Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is my usual ‘go to’ when buying white wine, usually New Zealand in origin. I must say I find Saint Clair a cut below both of my usual brands as I feel the taste is more earthy with an acidic finish and unusual aftertaste. My usual brands are a smoother and generally easier drink. I don’t find the wine unpleasant, but, if given the choice I wouldn’t purchase this over my usual brands. Wine score: 3/5 ********** Delacourt Champagne I personally found this very dry and quite bitter to the taste but sharp on the aftertaste. My usual brand of champagne is a sweeter, easier drink. In my view, the taste of this was more of a high end Prosecco or a low end champagne. I would drink this again but if an occasion warranted champagne, I would personally go for a higher end brand every time. Wine score: 3/5 ********** Delacourt Rose Champagne I must confess this is my first time trying a rose champagne. The first thing that struck me was the colour, it was less rose and more Irn Bru with its orange hue. Drier to the taste than I would have expected for a champagne and slightly tart, with a bitter aftertaste. I am quite the white champagne fan and after broadening my tastebud experiences to rose champagne I can safely say that for me, my regular bubbly has no fear of being replaced by this. Wine score 2/5 ********** Margaux - Bordeaux Red A very light and tasteful wine with floral notes, extremely dry, fragrant, and very easy drinking which is typical of a good Bordeaux. The perfect accompaniment to cheese and crusty bread. Wine score: 4/5 ********** L’or du Ciron - Dessert Wine I will start by saying I have never been a dessert wine fan as I am not partial to very sweet wines and also my kind of soirée generally doesn’t require such a tipple, but, here goes !! I found the taste quite mellow, reminiscent of a tawny or white fortified wine or port. Although it is not a drink I would typically buy, i found it pleasant and easy to drink. Wine score: 4/5 ********** Les Domains Brocard Chablis The first thing that struck me was the beautiful golden colour. My white of choice is usually Sauvignon Blanc and not a Chablis but after sampling this particular vin blanc my head could quite easily be turned. Not too sweet and not too dry meant for a smooth and easy drink with a clean and fruity flavour without the sharp tangy aftertaste that many an inferior wine exhibits. Bottom line, I enjoyed this wine very much. Wine score: 5/5 ********** El Duque de Miralta - Rioja A nice, easy drinking wine, for me this was medium dry and thinner than some Riojas I have had before. With similarities to a Bordeaux in consistency and taste, I found it a pleasant wine in taste and texture only marred by sediment in the bottle. Wine score: 4/5 ********** Late Bottled Vintage Port There honestly isn’t that much I can say about this port other than that for me it is as good as some of the higher end brands I have had before. A smooth and easy drinking port. Very good. Wine score: 5/5 ********** An all round good variety of tastes and types of tipple. Generally good consistency on the whole, although nothing outstanding. I would say on average all wines were better than expected and In my view, they would fall a little short when held up against the higher end of the wine market but still a good cross section at a good standard. Case score: 4/5
