Sorry, this item is no longer available

Ripe fruit flavours fill the palate with gentle aromas of spice and a hint of violet following through on the nose. These classic Pinot Noir characters are complemented by sweet, nutty tannins and a delightfully long, elegant finish.

Made by young winemaker Carlos Concha who has been at Undurraga seven years now. He recently took charge of Aliwen with a view to seeking out new terroirs and a new vibrance for the wine. Carlos likes his wines to taste “a bit more off pisteand young”. As a passionate snowboarder and lover of nature and wilderness, he aims to match his wines to the wilder side of his own personality. The grapes for this Pinot Noir are from coastal Leyda (60%) and from Chile’s famous Maipo Valley (40%).

Finally managed to open the bottle

No, I don't recommend this

I suspect that, somewhere deep in the vineyards of Chile lies someone who has been planning a retro-assault on the screw-top wine industry. Aiwen Unduragga might even be a translation of Cork Producer. The simplicity of bottle-opening of Chilean wines is a great bonus. It took me fully fifteen minutes of strained-sinew intensity, however, to open this bottle. And I tried each in the case in order to check: none budged. When the wine was finally poured, it tasted fruity, full-bodied and intensely flavoured. Someone should have a word with the producer, however. I'll get along to the gym to do some grip-strengthening exercises before I test another bottle.
