Senior Girls' Pleated Knit Skirt (Older Girls)

Cannot believe how short the skirts are. Not suitable for school wear at all. Incredibly disappointed.

There is no proper school skirt on offer for those wanting non Stormwear school skirts. Our family will not tolerate these Teflon or Stormwear chemicals in children's clothing. When my daughters were 7 and 8 I bought these non Stormwear school skirts even though they were too short. For my age 10 but tall slim size 13 daughter, they are all WAY too short. She will not wear them and I think they look ridiculously short on her. Most of the reviews here complain about the length not even adhering to school rules!!!! This is absolutely bizarre. Can M&S really be encouraging 10 year olds to wear incredibly short skirts? This is just wrong. They MUST do better than this.

In the never-ending saga of hunt the appropriate style (& length) school skirt, I was hopeful that M & S would come up trumps. For primary school, they always had a great selection of items and I never failed to get what I needed for my daughter. Sadly, it was not to be for secondary school. Despite claiming to be pleated, the skirt was far too unstructured and I felt, too casual, to be worn as school-wear. My daughter is average height for her age but the skirt still fell a good 3" above her knee - unacceptable for the majority of secondary schools these days! Unfortunately it seems no employees of school-wear suppliers have kids at secondary schools or else they would be very aware of the strict rules head teachers are enforcing in respect of skirt styles and lengths. As supportive parents trying to adhere to the standards set, it is frustrating and demoralising struggling to find suitable uniform. A plea to M & S - secondary school children need longer skirt lengths and non skinny fit trousers please!!

It was a little shorter than I had imagined, but my daughter loves it.

This is a fabulous skirt which my 9 year old daughter and I loved immediately it came out of the bag. The material feels lovely and soft but thick enough to hold the shape well and perfect for winter. The pockets on the sides are very handy for tissues etc. The style is appealing and my daughter said it was very comfortable. However very disappointingly it is far too short. I even order a larger size (age 11-12) but to no avail. I fear a longer style winter jacket would not even cover this skirt so reluctantly I am having to return it. I checked to see if perhaps this came in a longer length but unfortunately not.

This is a very nice stylish skirt but does come up very big, no adjustable waist so had to return it. My little girl has no hips or waist so not suitable at all.
