Purchased this for my step-daughters wedding. Decorated with co-ordinating ribbon, and garlands of sugar paste gypsophila round each tier (phew....took ages to make but was so worth it!) and added a cake topper. The icing 'buttons' were very easy to remove to add deeper ribbon, and simply 'stuck' back on with a little royal icing. Wish I could add a photo! Taste? Delicious! Moist and cut very well - no crumbling. Ordered a fruit cutting bar which was also lovely....a little less icing and a bit more fruit would work, but still tasty! Arrived in very sturdy cake boxes. Larger tier was in a box on which the sides dropped for a very easy removal and was able to reuse to deliver completed cake. Top marks M&S.

Item just as described - really tasty with very thick icing. Simple and elegant design, we decorated with cake toppers and flowers at the base. Also purchased a cutting bar of fruit cake (felt the assorted cake had too high a proportion of fruit cake for our guests).

I ordered this for my wedding day 31st January and collected from store the day before. Came with everything required to build (which my venue sorted), we added tartan ribbon round the layers and my florist put together a small posey to put on the top and it absolutely looked the part of a beautiful wedding cake. I wish I could add a picture to this review to show! The bottom 2 layers more than fed around 100 guest and we were given the top tier to take home. It was absolutely delicious and couldn't recommend this cake more!

I bought this for our wedding last week, we changed the ribbon and added a cake topper to match our theme and it looked amazing. We had lots of admiring comments, the sponge was light with just the right amount of buttercream, im not a fan of icing but this was soft and easy to cut through. We have plenty left and the sponge is still fresh. Id definitely recommend this cake well done M&S. My only small gripe is on the day I was due to collect the cake the delivery email never came through and there was a moment of panic , but after a call to the store they confirmed it was there.

This cake was exactly what my husband and I wanted. It's a wonderful cake to make your own: I added my own ribbon and cake topper (created with M&S flowers!) and it looked stunning!!! The sponge is lovely and moist, complimented by the beautiful icing. All our guests devoured it on the evening, but we are still left with the top tier to nibble on! Four days later and the sponge is still delicious.

This cake was amazing. Fantastic service by M&S from start to finish. Ordering was simple, could check regularly on the status of my order, received an email when the cake had arrived, it arrived on time, very securely packaged and looked and tasted fantastic. Would highly recommend this cake and the whole service. The price of the cake was very reasonable and it was a perfect size/height. We loved the design of this cake. We had so many compliments on how the cake tasted and looked. The hotel put the cake together for us with the dowels that were included and the florist decorated with a few flowers. Thank you M&S!

This was an excellent cake - arrived on time - very well packed and so was perfect when arrived at the venue for putting in place - even arrived with the sticks to set it up so nothing else needed. The cake was moist and delicious and was enjoyed by everyone - it cut well too and made a lovely change from fruit cake, which my daughter did not want. With out own decorations, flowers and silver flower top it looked stunning and people were amazed it was from M & S! Thank you all for providing such an excellent cake. Would recommend to all.

I bought this cake for my wedding and I was more than happy with it. We picked it up a couple of days before the wedding from Marks and Spencer in Guiseley it was all boxed up and the staff were lovely. Our friend who has made wedding cakes for years decorated it for us and she was very impressed with the quality of this cake. Overall an excellent cake for an excellent price!

We ordered this cake for our Wedding as a late addition- the cake was never going to have top billing so it was not that important to have something with Wow factor. We were lucky that our very clever florist made an arrangement for the top and it looked good. I liked the taste, others said the icing was just too sweet. If I had chosen this as a major centerpiece I may have been disappointed that the icing wasn't that level so the finish wasn't amazing, but in all I thought this was excellent value for money. You'd have to pay a lot more for a fantastic finish.

Blown Icing
No, I don't recommend this
The cake was packaged well but the Icing was blown on two of the three tiers. I had to cut the icing to allow the air to escape from the larger bubble (approx. 3" dia.) in order to flatten it down before stacking the cake. The smaller tier also had a 1" diameter bubble on the top which I had to cover with the cake topper. Noticed one in the shop and got a small refund, didn't see the second until at the venue. Poor really considering its £179 and no time to do anything about it.

My new husband and I were very pleased when we collected our wedding cake from the store. It was bigger and more elegant than I expected. It looked wonderful on the swan shape cake stand we used to display it. All the guests were amazed at how scrumptious the cake was and lots of people went back for more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of buying a wedding cake from Marks and Spencer. As I type I am currently having a slice of it with a cup of tea. Mmm.

Our cake was such a success. We went for the pearl wedding cake in sponge with white icing, and ordered a cutting bar as well. It looked stunning with pillars in between each layer which we bought as an extra from M&S. I would really recommend these pillars as it makes the cake look bigger and grander, and means that less decoration is needed. Or if you want to go all out on decoration, there is more surface area and scope to incorporate your design. We got our florist to decorate ours with a few flowers between each layer of cake, and also on top. My husband and I managed to take the top layer of our cake on honeymoon with us, but the rest of it including the cutting bar all got eaten! The quality was very high and the taste was absolutely delicious. Lots of guests gave us great feedback too! There was a bit of confusion as to the number the cake served, but M&S have now sorted this problem on their web pages, so that is no longer relevant! I would highly recommend this cake!
