This was my first midi-skirt and I was unsure of buying it but I love it. I don't wear heels but it looks fine with my silver trainers - a bit 'edgy' even, and a denim jacket. The fabric is lovely, it fits perfectly and is comfortable to wear - the price was great as well.

I bought this for work but found the length just a bit too long for me. I'm 5ft6 and the hem came a little bit too far down my calf for my liking. The skirt isn't a snug fit either so might be worth going down a size as the waist and hips are a little roomy. Might look good with high heels but I found it didn't suit a lower heel or flats.

While in my local store I couldn't find anything I liked at all, but found this online and thought I'd give it a go. I loved pencil skirts many years ago when I was about a size 8 but with middle age expansion I haven't worn a skirt at all for a very long time. I had begun to tire of trousers and leggings in the cold weather and needed something smart, so I took the plunge and ordered a black and a navy. I'm only 5ft 1 but I wasn't worried about it being too long as it's more my style. I'm a fairly standard 16 in trousers so I'd ordered 16 and was delighted to find they both fitted perfectly (unfortunately the same can't be said about M&S tops). Wearing the black one with black tights and ankle boots I felt like the bees knees and was extremely comfortable. A great price - and even better with a Sparks offer! I thought I might return the navy, but I think I might keep it as they're so great. I think if you had some of these actually instore that they'd fly out. But what do I know?!

I dont normally do dresses,or skirts very much, but needed a black skirt to wear to a Greek Orthodox Funeral. This skirt was a perfect length, not too midi. or mini for my 5ft 4"height. The skirt is well made, and easy to pull on, no zips or buttons needed.the fabric is mid weight, with a small back split. The elasticated waist band is a good width, did not roll over at the waist. The price was very good and the quality excellant, a very good skirt to dress up, or for the office, or for funerals !

This skirt is nothing like the photo, in which it appears to be plain navy. It has a weird pink and red stripe down the side seams which is not mentioned in the description. It appears on the website twice, under different titles. Come on M&S, your customers deserve accurate descriptions to save them wasted time and money ordering items that don't match their requirements.

In previous years I have bought work skirts (and trousers) in this range and they've been brilliant. When I read so many good reviews on here I felt encouraged to go ahead and order this, if it had worked I was planning to buy more than one.. When I tried it on I was stunned. It's hard to know how to summarise what the problem was. The fabric was good - the style and the fit was simply shocking. The waist was huge and gaped at the back, it sat weirdly on the hips and the circumference around the hem was so small it made it difficult to walk rather than shuffle. What a mess.
