Sturdy but comfy

This is my 11yo’s first pair of proper school shoes for secondary, and they’re fantastic. They don’t rub, they’re very sturdy but also really comfy (according to my son who normally lives in trainers). Highly recommend. Would also recommend going for the wider fit even if you think your child’s foot doesn’t look particularly wide, I think the slight narrowing of the toe area might rub against most kids little toes. Not a problem with the ‘G’ fit.

To start with I am a middle-aged female and bought these shoes to wear with my work uniform. I have yet to wear them but they are very comfortable and are exactly what I was looking for - plain black shoes. I have a lot of Clarks shoes and am almost always very pleased with them. I take a size 5.5 or 6 and have narrow feet and wear orthotic insoles - I tried both sizes and settled on the 5.5.

Within the first day of wearing these, my skin on my son’s heals was non existent, leaving him with extremely painful wounds on both feet… which are still there a week later! He can only wear these shoes with multiple plasters and heel cushions due to the ill designed back heel section (which is not smooth). We’ve spent hours trying to soften this, without success. Not sure now whether to buy and alternative pair, have lost faith in Clarks now after this, so a different style may be just as uncomfortable. :(
