Arneis, little rascal in the Piedmont dialect, is so called because it is considered to be difficult to grow. However, it does thrive in Roero, the area of magnificent hills on the left bank of the Tanaro river in Piedmont northwest Italy. Here, the calcareous-siliceous soils encourage the development of perfumed, elegant wines like this one crafted by Bruno Cordero of Terra Dal Vino exclusively for MandS.
