These chairs replaced similar shaped leather covered ones (not M&S) which had worn badly. They look stylish. Our main concern is whether they are sufficiently stain resistant or easy to clean, fabric being more susceptible than leather. The chairs are quite firm and possibly not to everyone's liking in that respect, but they are comfortable and do make you sit quite upright. How well they stand the test of time remains to be seen. With careful use they should survive well. Not sure we'd have bought fabric covered chairs if we still had small children.....

I find it most strange that the manufacturer strongly emphasises that the frame is solid beech, but neglects to state the type of material that the covering comprises. "Stripped fabric" doesn't cut it.
