Ever marvelled at Cate Blanchett’s trademark flawless skin or Jessica Chastain’s traffic-stopping signature red lip? They’re down to Mary Greenwell – the British make-up guru the A-List have on speed-dial. Now, in a new collaboration with M&S, you can tap into her tricks of the trade in a series of make-up videos revealing the techniques we’re all dying to know.

“When I’m working with celebrities for the red carpet, it’s my job to make them look and feel more beautiful than ever, and that’s what I’ve set out to do here,” says Mary. “Trends come and go, but what’s really worth learning are those timeless looks you’ll never tire of wearing, like a smokey eye or nude make-up. My step-by-step masterclasses give you the confidence to try gorgeous looks – and achieve them in less than 15 minutes.”

Packed with the same techniques Mary uses on the world’s most famous faces, it’s safe to say that your makeover couldn’t be in better hands. But technique is only half the story. “Using the right products can really make or break a look,” Mary explains. “What I love about M&S is that they stock lots of brands you’d find in my kit, such as Bourjois’s hi-tech foundations, Stila’s eye palettes and Diego Dalla Palma’s special-effects mascaras. I’ve always loved M&S for its cashmere, underwear and food; now it’s on the map as a go-to destination for beauty, too.”

give you the
CONFIDENCE to
try gorgeous looks”

Get the look

Flawless foundation made easy
Perfect for time-crunched mornings – use
fingertips instead of brushes when applying
foundation for a fast, immaculate finish.
The ultimate nude look
Brigitte Bardot’s signature bombshell style. If
you don’t have a nude lipstick, cheat by
patting concealer over lips instead.
Contour like a pro
When sculpting, use a few light brush strokes,
rather than one heavy sweep – it’s easier to
build-up colour than tone it down.
Showcase smokey eyes
An all-time favourite look – lift upwards and
out with your brush while building the colours
to open the eye area.
Create the perfect brow
Remember, no two brows are the same. Do
half of one, then pull back and start the other
to create the most even shape.
Master a classic red lip
Line lips first so you can apply colour straight
from the bullet – over time the nib moulds to
your lip shape making it faster to apply.
