As the colder nights draw in, get cosy with the comforting flavours of classic gingerbread – a beautiful blend of ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Explore the Foodhall to find our favourite gingerbread picks, and try our recipes to make your own sweet treats. Plus, see our step-by-step guide to building a gingerbread house for the festive season.
How to make a gingerbread house
If making from scratch, make your gingerbread dough and refrigerate for at least two hours to make sure it holds its shape.
Roll out the dough until it’s about ½cm thick.
Cut out the shapes of your gingerbread house. Use a paper template to help guide you.
Bake the dough and let it cool.
Assemble the gingerbread house using royal icing – a mixture of egg whites and icing sugar.
Once the icing is set, decorate using sprinkles, chocolates, and sweets – let your imagination run wild!

Save on prep time with our handy Build Your Own Gingerbread House kit. It contains everything you need for a showstopping result – crunchy gingerbread biscuits, red and white icing, fruity jelly sweets, multi-coloured sugar confetti and magical sugar snowflakes.
