THE BLOGGER EDIT

THE NEW
RULES OF
HOLIDAY
DRESSING

Looking for some holiday wardrobe inspiration? We asked one of our favourite style bloggers, Erica Davies, to reveal her top tips on how to look effortless and chic on your summer getaway

Hello, summer

“This top is a beautiful, and super useful, summer wardrobe addition. It’ll work with denim, tailoring as well as boho skirts – and you can wear a bra!”

“Whether you’re going on holiday abroad or planning a sunny staycation in the UK, summer dressing can be hard,” says Erica. “As Brits, we’re not entirely adept at dealing with high temperatures. Our sense of style can go awry in the heat – we often end up packing pieces that are too fussy, hot, or in contrast, not warm enough!

“After many years of packing for holidays and getting it wrong, I’ve finally hit upon my personal summer wardrobe strategy – and that’s to keep it simple.

“For me, the easiest way to look chic and feel pulled together is to stick to a simple colour palette. Black and white, cream and navy, blush pink and taupe – whatever your choice, you’ll be able to mix and match print, patterns and block shades in a variety of stylish ensembles.

“This summer, as always, I’m a huge fan of crisp blue and white. The good news is, you’ll be spoilt for choice, whether you’re going for a more Parisian vibe or classic nautical look. I love this tie-detail top

(left and bottom right), which I’ve teamed with a cute ruffle wrap skirt – the perfect holiday piece. It works with so many options, from a slogan tee and sliders to a boho blouse and espadrilles.

“Another holiday essential is a throw-on-and-go dress that can be styled up or down depending on the activity. This black broderie style (bottom left) is perfect. A gorgeous length and flattering shape, it could be worn with sandals to a beachside café or teamed with heels at night. I even added double lace with the white per una tassel-tie jacket, which is ideal for cool evenings or if you’re not keen on showing off your arms but don’t want anything too heavy.

“The great thing about keeping your summer look pared back is that you can add interest with your accessories. I love anything with a pompom, tassel or a bold shade like these yellow sandals (below left).

“Wherever your destination, just remember to keep it simple. Opt for cool, sophisticated separates, but don’t forget to have a little fun with it, too.”

SUNSHINE-READY STYLE

“This tote bag is practical, fun and the perfect size, plus the print is surprisingly versatile. The yellow sandals add a touch of sunshine.”
“I love a midi hemline. This broderie dress is flattering and timeless – a guaranteed summer staple you’ll be wearing year after year.”
“Fresh white and punchy orange is a winning summer combination. This skirt is easy to wear and will provide a strong style foundation.”
“This jacket is the prettiest wardrobe multi-tasker. Throw it on over your swimsuit, strappy dress or a slogan tee and jeans.”
“A simple yet stylish one-piece swimsuit is my holiday go-to. I love the colour and it comes with hidden support, too.”
“Stripes are a summer neutral, so pair up this top and skirt and then add pops of colour with accessories for a fun combination.”
