Jewel of Nasik red wine

No, I don't recommend this

This is no Jewel, it is probably the only wine that we could not finish and had to pour it away, the only way to describe the taste is like a mouth wash.

Wrong!

No, I don't recommend this

This is the worst wine I have ever tasted in 60 years drinking wine. Only tried to drink it after the first glass --still the worst! I drank Jewel of Nasik wine same grapes in India in December. Good taste good value!! I am returning the remaining bottles because I am concerned of the oenology -- ingredients in this combination.

The worst red wine I have ever tasted!

No, I don't recommend this

We served this at a party where we served several good quality wines,( Margaux, Pauillac, Carianne, Haut Medoc and the like, some oaked some not). No one could guess the country of origin nor the grapes used. ( 9 out of 9 appreciative red wine drinkers said it was foul, dire or awful) so. ,,,,,,I poured in down the drain !! Even a good curry could not disguise the awful taste and some of my relatives come from India. I am considered to be knowledgeable about wine and have diploma in the subject. The M & S description of this wine is wrong and totally beyond belief!

A great hit!

Yes, I recommend this

This was greatly enjoyed by our family. We hadn't tried it before, and having just read the rather mixed reviews, I'm glad I hadn't looked before buying. My daughter and I particularly enjoyed the fruitiness, but it wasn't too light, as some fruity wines are. I shall certainly buy some more!!

Maybe try with over powering curry?

No, I don't recommend this

Bought as a single bottle in store at £2 off. Not enjoyable, there's a strong under taste that I can only think of as cumin (though I appreciate that's not a likely ingredient).

Chemical taste

No, I don't recommend this

Like others I wanted to like this, but it tastes so chemical and synthetic - a bit like burnt rubber - that I can only assume it's faulty in some way. I suspect there is some sort of batch problem with this wine because, looking at other customer reviews here, clearly some people like it when it's in good condition.

Unusual but excellent red wine

Yes, I recommend this

A fruity all round red wine suitable for all occasions. An interesting talking point over dinner with friends as few have previously tried Indian wines. Highly recommended!

New Wine

No, I don't recommend this

I cannot describe the taste of this wine. I wanted to like it, but it was just unpleasant. We admitted defeat and left the rest of the bottle.

Very Poor Quality

No, I don't recommend this

After reading the other reviews I was excited to try this wine. Maybe I was unlucky, but this wine has a very unpleasant "chemical" taste. I gave a bottle to family who travel to India regularly and they agreed it was not representative of Indian wine, in fact they poured it down the sink!

Jewel of Nasik Tempranillo Syrah

No, I don't recommend this

Average tasting wine, nothing to get excited about. Lacks depth of flavour, indistinct bouquet. I've been to Nasik and to the vineyards and was really looking forward to something special. Pretty, inviting label though.

Blind tasting

Yes, I recommend this

I took this wine to a wine tasting club. Hiding the bottle and giving no clue as to the grapes or the origin about 16 members tasted the wine blind. Members were asked to guess the grapes. Tempranillo and shiraz were both guessed correctly, although not the combination. No one guessed the country of origin. Without knowing, and possibly being prejudiced by the origin, everyone enjoyed the wine and some were very impressed.

Disappointing

No, I don't recommend this

I was quite excited about trying this as I have never had an Indian bottle before. It had virtually no nose and the taste was extremely bland albeit with an unpleasant level of acidity. I had brought it up to room temperature and tried it both straight from the bottle and an hour after being decanted with no difference. Very far from the description on the bottle. For the adventurous among you I would recommend the Turkish Trio or both Lebanese reds - all three excellent.
