Café Barista Coffee Shop Play Set (3-7 Yrs)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Melissa & Doug Cafe Barista Coffee Shop is a fantastic toy for younger kids. My son enjoyed arranging all the pieces. We would pretend that he was making my morning coffee each day. The quality was top notch. Even after extensive weeks of play, it still looks like new. I foresee getting many years of use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 2 year old girl and a 9 year old girl and they are both obsessed with this coffee shop play set. I was a bit worried while unpacking the contents that my 2 year old would be underwhelmed since there were no lights/sounds/very few working parts. But let me tell you- this is her absolute favorite thing to play with now! My husband and I also play coffee shop with them both. It is a huge hit for our family and brings us all together to play! I love that there are different ways to play. Pretend play like a coffee shop/ customer is my 9 year old's favorite. My 2 year old loves to match the different pieces to the pictures on the menu and also make coffee for Mama! As for details of the playset.... almost all of the pieces are wooden/hand made which means they are super durable. There is a cardboard milk carton that got torn open completely within the first few days, so that was a little disappointing. The only "working" parts are the little handle that you place a coffee disk in (you then slide the handle in and flip it into the coffee cup), and the "register" screen (it is like one of those old school magnetic writing tablets). I was a little disappointed in the quality of the register. It is very hard to read what you write and even harder to erase it entirely. I feel like they could have definitely come up with a more functional method for the register. But overall this coffee shop playset is a big fat WIN for our household! I highly reccomend this set if you have younger kids. Open ended play for hours and ZERO batteries to replace I can't wait to buy more Melissa and Doug pretend play sets!

It is sturdy and made of wood and all the pieces are durable. This set really has everything a Barista could need from the machine to cake pops. It is so interactive and gets kids to use their imagination.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] my 9 year old son loved how realistic this game looks... although we expected it to be much bigger, he was also disappointed to find that nothing in the game has buttons or anything that makes noise... he would be more interested than when he was "preparing the coffee" the machine made some noise

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a really fun toy to play with but it had many small parts and no place to put those parts when done with playing for a three year old. But my toddler and 9 yr old both enjoyed playing and serving us customers coffees. The barista set is very strong, steady, and keeps the kids busy for a long time. Role playing was one of the best parts in Melissa and Doug Barista set, it gave my kids to use their imagination and creativity.

He loves making various drinks for us using the different pieces and especially enjoys swiping the credit card on the register. It's so fun for us to watch him come up with his creations and we enjoy "sampling" his drinks and treats. Everything that comes with this set is so well made and I know it will last my son for a long time.

It will definitely stand the test of time. Cons: The cookie and bar don't stay in the holders on the back. The ports filter doesn't drop the coffee when you turn it over.

My son is my little coffee barista buddy so we've been having a blast making drinks for one another. The only thing, I wish it was a little taller! It's a little hard as adult to reach down to play but I love all the accessories as does my son!

The details are so great... she recognizes many of the features from my own favorite coffee shop (like the credit card machine / screen). My husband and I have been so happy with all of the conversations we're having just based on our play scenarios with her - it's helping with vocabulary and conversing. I was going to try to keep the box closed until the weekend, but there's no way I was going to win that battle, and I'm glad I didn't... she's been playing non-stop (independently and with us). It's a hit!
