Gorgeous Red bursting with mouth filling fruitiness. Fresh blueberry and red apple aromas combine with vivid cherry flavours, warming tannins and a twist of liqourice on the finish.

Italian wines, with their fresh acidity, also suit summer drinking. A good example is Marks & Spencer's vivid, cherry-flavoured Dolcetto d'Asti from its new Italian range - I'd love to drink that with duck salad or a bagna cauda. Again, it's not in all stores."-Fiona Beckett,The Guardian 15-Jun-13. Applies to 2012 Vintage. Gorgeous red

Yes, I recommend this

This is a gorgeous easy drinking red at a great price point. Similar to it's more expensive sister Dolcetto d'alba. Love love love it but it's now non-catalogued in my local store and discounted online so probably, sadly on it's way out. Get it quick while you still can.

Great Pizza/Pasta wine

Yes, I recommend this

A very good wine to accompany some food with a toamto sauce, pizzas, pasta etc. You need to decant it to oxidise it and smooth it out first and then it becomes a very easy to drink wine indeed. Recommended.

Disappointing

No, I don't recommend this

Have only opened one bottle so far and hope the others are better. Found it thin and tinny but it did improve when drunk with a rich pasta sauce. Will warm the next bottle before opening to see if that helps but I won't be buying this again.

At last ...

Yes, I recommend this

At last some simple Dolcetto that isn't £10- or more. It's not D'Alba or a more acclaimed growth/blend, but Dolcetto doesn't necessarily need to be extra special. This is lovely just as it is ... lighter, but not light or wanting for impact. Served cool or even cooler it is a vibrant, refreshing and versatile wine. Even better it has a slightly lower alcohol content - you can drink more of it :) It's not a million miles from some far more lauded Rhone grapes & pinots in effect. And I wouldn't call it 'warming' it seems that is obligatory dealer-speak nowadays! It is not heavy handed or trying to punch above it's weight. Just everyday unpretentious pleasure. It really should be served cool though. A bargain at a price even the native Piemonte might appreciate.
