Baron de Hoen Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes - Case of 6

This is a really delicious example of an Alsace Pinot Gris. Aromatic, fruity, opulent - so different from those boring Italian Pinot Grigios. I had been buying it for some time in store and sadly it seems to have been taken off sale - and there has been nothing to replace it. So, this is a plea for its reinstatement!

Bought a 6 bottle case, having bought a bottle previously. It is a lovely example of a Pinot Gris - with all the qualities that distinguish it from the often dull Pinot Grigio wines. However the 5th bottle opened had the distinct musty nose and deaden taste of a corked bottle. Immediately opened my 6th and last bottle - and it was lovely. Printed off the receipt and got a refund from my local M&S, with no problems. I would buy this wine again, as on a 25% offer it is great value. But suggest keep the receipt and taste it before offering to guests - and have an alternative bottle in reserve! From a previous review, I note that it is not an isolated problem.

This is a gorgeous wine representing superb value for money but sadly ruined by 2 bottles being full on wet dog corked. The first corked bottle ever from M&S. Returned to local branch for a refund even though the problem is a producer not a retailer issue. Fortunately the first bottle was unspoilt so we know how good it can be - a classic Alsace Pinot Gris with an initial floral aroma, lovely flavours of lemon and apricot mixed with spicey undertones that really lingers on the palate. However due to the corking shocker a slam dunk five star wine sadly has to be marked down to three and consequently cannot be recommended.

Bought a dozen. Found it to be a delicious aperitif and accompaniment to fish dishes. Also goes well with cheese. So impressed ordered a second dozen.
