Barbera D'Asti
Vintage: 2016
A classic smooth and fruity Barbera offering lovely dark cherry and wild flower flavours with a tangy, savoury edge.
About this bottle: The Barbera grape has been grown in Piedmont's Asti area or centuries, ripening slowly while protected on nearly all sides by the mountains. Local winemaker Simone Cortese has blended a wine with freshness and elegance, then ageing the wine in oak for six months to soften its character.

Barbera Nasty
No, I don't recommend this
Without doubt this is the worst Italian wine i have every had the displeasure to open and try to drink. I think the expert description would be "Rough". It was just awful. There was nothing to like about it. It even hung onto the glass for hours after emptying the glass down the sink , followed by the rest. The observations above are my own and not coerced by any other motive.

Deep Cherry Flavours
Yes, I recommend this
This is a quite a strong wine with deep cherry flavours and a full body. Dark in colour this wine is flavoursome and has a slight kick in the throat and a lingering warmth in the stomach.

An Old Favourite
Yes, I recommend this
I was once given a bottle of Barbera D'Asti by an Italian couple who I helped out and have loved it ever since. Great with a lovely steak.

Excellent value for money
Yes, I recommend this
Both the red and white wine were good. One bottle of the red had a bad cork so it was a loss but with corks this can happen.

Yes, I recommend this
Full bodied with depth and high fruit, benefits from long "breathing".
