Reliable, low-profile, and still going strong sinc

We’ve used the OXO Good Grips Shower Stall Drain Protector in both the large and small sizes, and it’s one of those practical upgrades that quietly makes a big difference. We currently own three (two large, one small), and the larger size works best for our needs—it sits more securely and catches more hair without slowing the drain. It’s well-designed, easy to clean, and doesn’t shift around like some flimsier alternatives. The stainless steel looks sharp and holds up well over time without rusting or discoloring. We’ve had ours since 2021, and it’s still performing reliably. Even my mom, visiting from Canada, was impressed enough to want one—so I ordered her one too. It’s one of those small home items that just works—no fuss, no clog surprises, and a clean, streamlined look that blends right in.

Almost works too well

This is the perfect size for our drain and catches hair and lint effortlessly! We have to clean it off every few showers because as it collects hair, water doesn't flow through fast enough. So it's definitely working!

All other drain protectors seem kind of janky and annoying. This one looks seamless and functions seamlessly.

I really like my plumber but I also like not having to pay him! I’d just as soon avoid clogs & this does the trick.

Simply does not work
Originally posted on oxo.com
I am a huge fan of OXO products but this one did not cut the mustard when put to use. I have a newly installed 2-inch hex tile shower floor and have been “auditioning” several different hair catchers and this one just didn’t catch anything. It seems that it allows nearly everything to pass under it. It may work if you have a smooth shower floor, can’t say for sure.

It works!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this after our last shower drain clog. Bye-bye, plant-based “draino”-type product (that worked). This is a smarter solution to our hair-down-the-drain problem.

Definitely helps me not have to pull clumps of hair out of my drain. Fits over my drain beautifully. Super easy to use and stays put. It’s heavy duty and doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. This handy little tool helps to keep my drains protected from all the long strands of hair I shed when washing my hair. It also protects my drains from other nasty stuff from getting into my drains and clogging things up. I would recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Drain looks very nice and lays flat in tub. I don’t have to worry about tripping on it because it lays flat. Easy to clean by just wiping down with a paper towel. Runner ring underneath keeps it neatly in place.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so glad I tried this little drain protector, it is exactly what I needed. I use it in my bathtub, which is not a "shower stall" but it IS a shower. The tub already has a drain cover but the holes are a bit on the large side and plenty of hair gets through. My tub drain was clogging very quickly, I was having to pull gross tangled wads of hair out of it every few days and having to use drain cleaner on it every month or so when the water would start to drain super slowly. This OXO drain protector is such a simple little product but it has seemingly solved these issues for me. I've used it for several weeks now and it works very well, it seems to catch most (if not all) of the hairs before they make it through to the main drain cover. There's no installation needed, you just set it right on top of your existing drain cover and it has a rubbery feeling coating around the edges to keep it from scooting around. I pick it up after each shower and wipe it off with a single square of toilet paper to wipe the hair that it has caught off if it and that's it! My water has been draining quickly, I have not had to use any drain cleaner, I see no hair on top of the existing drain cover so there's no funky wads of hair to pull out of the drain anymore, it's been extremely helpful. I very enthusiastically recommend it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This shower drain protector definitely works! I have a flat drain in my fiberglass tub, and had no issues using this! I noticed that not only does it catch my long hair, it even catches some of the hair from shaving as well. It is easy to clean, I just picked it up and smack it on the side of the trash can and the hair falls off no issues! I have had this in my tub for about 3 weeks and I haven’t had any issues with rusting either. It also doesn’t float away in a full bath. Lastly, even when it is half way full of hair, it still doesn’t back up water in the tub- it still allows for plenty of drainage. All in all, this is a great tub strainer. It meets all my needs, and I have no complaints!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to give our cat a bath. He has long hair and well his potty area sometimes get things stuck in it. I was able to bathe him without much issue. I used the drain cover to make sure I wasn't clogging the bath. This thing works like a dream! I was instantly shocked how much hair was collected after the kitty's bath .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drain catcher does seem to come in handy. It catches hair very well. It's a large circle so can fit pretty much over the top of any drain. It does seem to slip a little but it's really not a issue.
