100g Weight
Yes, I recommend this
Whilst the trout is delicious, the weight is not as described on the packet. It states 100g, however, when I weight the trout (out of the packaging), it was only 91g. While the difference is only 9g, this is an expensive product and I would expect to receive the full 100g. This is also the second time the weight has fallen short of the weight stated on the packaging.

The taste of this product is fine but the packaging is ludicrous, with about 30% of the pack empty - inevitably under the opaque portion of the label - and the slices not interleaved, so they emerge as a solid lump and the 'minimum 4 slices' becomes meaningless. Simply getting it on to a plate to eat will drive you mad.

This product is so much more tasty than smoked salmon and not greasy as smoked salmon sometimes is. We would not have known about this product if we had not been in our local store (Barrow-in-Furness) at the time they were offering a tasting of it. I could not have been sure to find it there 'on the shelf' when I wanted it so I decided to buy it online.

Unfortunately this came as an almost solid block rather than nicely interleaved slices so was impossible to serve at our party. When we ate it the next day the taste was delicious but not the party food as photographed.

The disappointing part of the picnic

Due to a problem with my printer I had to go to a simply food M&S branch to order.I had selected Lochmuir Smoked Salmonselection but the assistant who took the order said this was out of stock! The substitute offered is shown on a platter in slices in the brochure I received 2 packs of solid fish with no interleaving paper rendering it necessary to carve pieces of fish-slicing was near impossible even with my sharpest knife. I find it hard to believe that M&S had no smoked salmon 6 days ahead of my date! Pity-everything else was up to the usual high Marks standard.

I can highly recommend this smoked trout. Wonderful flavour. The only problem was trying to separate the slices, not easy! So, please M&S can you interleave the slices? Even if the customer has to pay an extra £1.00. Highly recommend this though.
