Deep intense red, with concentrated blackberry and plum aromas, then a richly layered palate of complex dark fruits and sweet tannins, with a soft, rounded mouth feel that’s full of long-lingering contrasting flavours right to the finish.
Winemaker Thierry Boudinaud has used 100% Syrah fruit harvested from Languedoc and Minervois vineyards where clay, limestone and pebbly soils predominate. He has chosen 20 to 25 year old vines that deliver grapes with deeply concentrated flavours, and uses just a little oak-ageing (for 15% of the blend) to bring roundness and softness to the palate.
