The animal sounds go off when put your hand near or another animal near so its not very good

My son received this as a gift for Christmas absolutely loves it. He constantly asks for "my animals" but then gets very frustrated when it doesn't work (no sound or makes the wrong animal sound when a piece is placed). We've tried swapping batteries, using it in bright light, turning it off then on again. Sometimes we can get it working, sometimes only a few of the sounds will work. It's very inconsistent and frustrating, especially with a brand new toy.

Sound stopped working after a week.

My daughter loved this at first but the sounds stopped working almost immediately. Changed the batteries multiple times and nothing.

My daughter received this puzzle for her birthday and the sounds did not work consistently. The sheep didn't work at all. We exchanged it for another hoping it was just a damaged puzzle, but the new one hardly ever works. We also ordered hee the musical instrument sound puzzle and it also does not work consistently. Most of the time no sounds work at all on either puzzle. Very, very disappointed. I think I am giving up on Melissa and Doug products as I have not been impressed with the quality.

It would be a great product if the noises consistently worked. Yes, we use it in a brightly lit room and the noises only make sound about 60-70% of the time. My son loves it when it does work well though.

Got this for my son. Loved the idea of the wood pieces and was excited to let him hear the animal sounds. Sounds stopped working we kept it just because it's wood and seems like good quality but whatever they used for the sound is busted. Now I'm sitting here like a dummy making all the noises to keep my son interested.

This toy did not meet expectations at first it would only play sound sometimes or it would play the wrong animal. Two days later it does not play any sound at all, even tried changing the batteries.

Didn't work. When placing pieces no sounds would play. Tried putting them on slow and taken the odd slow. Sound wouldn't play until way later when pieces weren't even on it.

This seems like such a great toy and this brand usually has high quality standards. The puzzle I bought shocked my baby every time an animal noise would go off. The store we bought it from refunded our money and we threw the puzzle into the garbage. This all happened after 1 week of light use. I will be leery of other noise making products from this company in the future.
