I bought Moab speed gore Tex midsize in February and I love them! So for the summer I bought those! Merrell went back to there roots! The footbed gives me a secure and stabile feeling. In this shoe the gore Tex material works excellent the shoes are not sweaty but they are water resistant! . I walk/run with my huskies daily between 4 to 6 miles and these shoes can take it. I actually do like the color a lot!

Great look and the fit is very good and true to size. Have used them almost every day for a month for walking and light hiking. So far so good. I may buy another pair.

Comfortable walking shoe not designed for hiking

No, I don't recommend this
These should not be advertised or sold as hiking shoes. With thirty years of backcountry hiking experience, I can say these shoes have the worst trail traction of any shoe I've used. I absolutely do not trust them on the trail. In the Azores a few weeks ago, I switched to casual canvas style slip-ons (like Hey Dudes) on the trail which had significantly better traction than these Merrells. I did it out of necessity. I slipped and nearly fell on a dry smooth tile floor wearing these Merrells. If you plan to walk only on concrete or asphalt, these are fine - but not for real trail hiking. They are very comfortable and I found them to fit true to size. This is my first and last Merrell experience. There are much better options for hikers who need confident traction on the trail.

Poor fit and breathability

I'm very sorry I bought these shoes - twice. I had read a few reviews that said these had a wide fit. I purchased my normal size (13) and when I received them they were way too small and also visibly smaller on my foot than all of my other shoes. Even my wife pointed that out. I returned for a larger size (14 - because there is no 13 1/2) and those fit much closer to what I am used to. After a day of wearing however, I was noticing a ton of heel slippage – no matter how I laced the shoes. I also began to experience numbness on the outside of my left foot where the side was pinching a nerve. My right big toe has a large red spot on the front from where it is hitting the toe box. This seems to be happening because the insoles are moving around in the shoe as I walk and bunching up under my feet. Compounding this is the fact these are Goretex and the breathability is very poor. I have previously worn a pair of Goretex New Balance Hierros and never experienced the clamminess and moisture as I have in these Moab Speed 2s. I tried a few pairs of aftermarket insoles but while they don't move around, they are also bulkier than the stock insoles and make the shoes feel much narrower. I get that everyone has different sized/shaped feet, however as someone who's worn a LOT of different shoes/boots/skiboots in their life, these have confounded me for some reason. And now I am stuck with them.

Great mid range option!

These are great! More sturdy then a trail shoe but much lighter then the Moab 3s! As someone who owns multiple pairs of Merrells this is a great midrange addition! Currently using them in the mountains of Honduras!

Great shoe! I wear it on light to moderate hikes combining traditional hiking and trail running. I sized up 1/2 size but probably didn’t need to.

Very comfortable. A little narrow at first, but breaks in well after a week or 2. Love that it’s waterproof, but haven’t had the opportunity to put that to a test yet. These may be replacing my new balance 530’s.

very narrow shoe, loved the look and the material. I ordered my size but a half size up based on reviews but it almost looked like I ordered kid shoes instead of adult shoes with how small and narrow they were

Worst Merrell shoes I’ve ever bought. First, the sizing is just wrong. I’ve been a 10 for years in Merrell shoes, and these are a full size off. Once that was handled, tried them out for a while. They are not remotely waterproof, as the upper and tongue leak, and whatever cheap gore Tex supplier they used took them for a ride, as they barely repel water, let alone prevent it. It’s the most uncomfortable upper I’ve ever put on, as it binds your foot in every spot the tongue overlaps the upper. The heel cup doesn’t hold your heel, and the toe box is square. These are NOT meant for trails, running, or anything beyond walking around the mall looking for better shoes.
