Carmelle Bedside Chest

It is a very handsome, rather nice looking, good size bedside (would venture to say that the picture on the website does not do it justice). It appears nice and solid and sturdy, and comes fully assembled which is a bonus. When it comes to the quality of construction the drawers are not likely to last as their design and construction is lacking. The drawers have horizontal gaps between the back wall of the draw and its base at the back, as at that point those two elements are not glued or joined together in any way, relying on the sides of the bottom sliding into the grooves in the side walls of the drawer and hopefully holding it flat. If the drawer gets filled it is very likely that it will buckle down as the bottom is very thin and not properly fixed at the back. This might be a smaller issue with a narrow draws in a bedside, but as the wide larger chests have the same construction issue a bigger draw capacity is more likely to distort the drawers bottom when loaded. An oversight on the construction finish that could be easily remedied if pointed out to the manufacturer. Another problem (not of the manufacturers making) was that it arrived damaged and although the box did not have any signs of damage, the top corner of the bedside was smashed. As the "clingfilm" type of wrapping directly around the bedside was not intact - actually mostly missing - it is safe to conclude that it has been opened and unwrapped at some point (and the clear damage could not have been missed) and put back in the box and send to a customer. Do hope to have it replaced as was told that although currently out of stock it will be back in few weeks time. In short - very nice looking, sturdy, fully assembled furniture, but do not expect to load any of the drawers to their full capacity as the thin and only partly fixed drawers bottoms might not be able to take it. Nice furniture for a spare bedroom with occasional use.

Cannot give an recommendation as it is no longer available, very disappointing as I required another one. However have bought an alternative in the same range.Excellent value.

Bought as a side table/chest of drawers for my daughters bedroom. Space is limited & this fitted the bill perfectly. Three great little drawers enough for their socks, knickers etc. It looks great fitted perfectly & bought in the sale so was a fab price too.
