Nikki1 Not Happy! I have to agree with the other comments here - I came to buy the full size original Take Off the Day Balm and ended up with this. I tried it for the first time last night and am not at all happy. This version does not have the same silky smooth melting effect of the original - and the colour is strange and messy. Not even close to what I was expecting. I used to look forward to using this product each night, not now unfortunately. It works as it should, but not a pleasant experience at all.
thyscribbler BEST full-face makeup remover This cleansing balm is THE best makeup remover I have ever used. I always use it as the first step in a double cleanse (followed by All About Clean Liquid Facial Soap, Mild), and sometimes this balm is all I use. It dissolves and rinses away mineral sunscreen. It not only removes long-wearing eye makeup, I can actually open my eyes after massaging it into my lashes. In fact, it is so effective, I don't need a stand-alone eye makeup remover (Sorry, Clinique, you do make great ones, but ...). TTDO balm rinses clean without requiring a washcloth, and my sensitive, rosacea-prone skin feels soft and nourished afterward, without a trace of residue. I tend to stock up during sales, because if this balm were ever to be discontinued or reformulated, I'd probably wither up and die. It's that good.
jennC Took me a min to get used to. Okay, I've always used the liquid Take the day off. But when I tried this Balm, I was a bit skeptical at first. I tried to use it on a cotton pad. That didn't work too well and I felt like I was wasting a lonof it. *Obviously I didn't read the directions!!! What worked best for me was to take a small amount and close my eyes and gently place it on from the inside -outward. Product kinda melts. Then after gently rubbing that around. I'll take a cotton pad and wipe it off from there. I still may have some to follow up with under my eyes.. easy peasy. The product has already melted and is easier to work with. So, if you just work with this product, IT IS just as good as the Liquid and the wipes. And skin is super soft!!!
TakeItOff Bring back the original I came online to order a few of the original Take the Day Off, that I have come to love and it is my go-to product. Where is it? I don't want to worry about grit in my eyes and I certainly don't want black stuff all over my face. Could you please bring back the original. I planned to order several and utilize the 25% off sale and other promo and I'm not interested in this replacement product. Thanks.
ChristineF Miss the original This product is OK - but this new charcoal version doesn't remove make up as well as the original cleansing balm.
CeeBee I do not like this at all. This might be the only Clinique product, I have tried, that I do not like at all. It smells weird, irritates my skin, and seems to just cling to my eyelashes no matter how much I rinse, wipe, cleanse, wash, etc. I added a second star because it does remove my makeup. I actually skipped my free birthday gift because this is what was added to my cart and I cannot use it at all. I already have a bunch of little jars due to it being part of some sets I bought, but I will never use it. I tried giving it away and the recipient said it felt like vaseline on her face, so they don't want it either.
Ana2717 My favorite cleanser I love this makeup remover. It does not irritate my skin and does not burn my eyes. Best way to clean eyes from mascara.
ElleM Not as good as the original I don't like this product. It doesn't remove waterproof mascara as well, I have to clean it out of my cuticles. And I liked seeing the product being removed. This is black, it's impossible to tell if I'm actually done removing dark eye makeup. Please bring back the original.
Tavvy Refreshing for acne prone skin! I wasn't looking for this take the day off balm but tried it after I received it in my Ipsy bag. I am pleasantly surprised how soft and refreshed my broken out skin feels. My hard to remove eye liner and eyeshadow came right off really using it with my make up eraser. Usually the makeup eraser cloth doesn't remove all my eye make up on its own. My skin is very sensitive, oily and acne prone but it's helped to calm my break out without over drying it.
Angele Not nearly as good as the original take the day off balm This product is mediocre in it's performance and leaves you looking filthy and greasy in the process. Please bring back the non charcoal product. I do not like this one.
jojo Dying for the return of the original!!! Hey Clinique...when might we see the return of the original? It has been a part of my cleansing routine for years! It's sooooo much better than this one for removing waterproof mascara! When will it be back?!? Can I pre-order! It's been months! We love this product!!!
Jyotica Not as good as the original I've used the original version of this for years and it's been great - so easy to remove all of my makeup. This one is not good for removing makeup - I have to leave it on for so long and rub so much and even after that I have panda eyes straight away. My eyes also itch - not sure whether that's the product or the fact that my makeup isn't being washed away completely. It's super difficult to wash off completely. Really disappointed that I have a lot of the jar left, especially as it's not cheap.
Kay2019 Doesn't remove all my makeup I use only Clinique makeup-All About Eyes mascara, eyeliner, and brow liner along with Clinique eyeshadow and Super Powder-none of it is long lasting. This does not remove all my eye makeup-eyeliner and mascara is left behind. I have read and follow the instructions. Maybe it's because I'm not using long lasting product? Clinique liquid eye makeup remover burns my eyelids so that's out. This balm does not burn so that's a plus. Overall-not very impressed with this product and it is expensive. A little goes a long way though.
KJR No dry tight skin I love this product. I can use it daily. My skin always feels clean without feeling dry.
AA Takes everything off! This makeup removing cleansing balm does as it's labeled and takes the day off. Other various makeup removing balms take the first layer off and leave the rest for you to try to scrub off using makeup wipes and whatnot. This cleansing balm takes everything off after one wash. I used to not put makeup on in the first place as I dreaded taking it off, but ever since I was introduced to this cleansing balm, taking off makeup is such a breeze that I wear whatever I want as I have no problem taking it off. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!
Nadia Sucks Why would you stop making the original take the day off cleansing balm and replace it with this? My skin is dehydrated and this aweful product dried my skin even more than it was. I was using the original since it came out years and years and I'm totally upset that it is no longer available in Canada.
Mlediz Doesn't clean very well waterproof mascara I'm not very pleased, it does not removed very well waterproof mascara. I used to use the take the day off original and works very well for waterproofing
DW Disappointing I tried the Charcoal Cleansing Balm because you no longer have the original balm available. I was very disappointed with it. I don't like the addition of the charcoal. My skin seemed a little more irritated with this. Also, I have a white sink so the black is a pain to clean up after washing my face. I loved the original cleansing balm and wish you would bring it back.
Florida Concern. No safety seal. Unhygienic Arrives without a safety seal! No outer wrap around the lid or inner seal. This is not tamper proof, anyone can tamper with this product and you wouldn't know.
Dibley visible difference in less than a week I had a sample sized pot for some time and when I ran out of my usual cleaner I went to my drawer of Clinique goodies and dug this out. Quite a surprise with the texture at first but quickly realised that it does indeed turn to a soft balm as I massaged onto skin. I love this product as it is so lovely to use I now massage my face as part of my night routine and both my skin and my stress levels have improved. Thank you Clinique for a great gift.
