INSTA-WORTHY STYLE

Want to see the best new clothes from M&S? Then you need to follow the M&S Insiders on Instagram. Here, five of the team in the know show us the hottest trends for summer…

Top-to-toe style

“I love the natural textures in this outfit, such as the statement basket-weave earrings and shell buttons. The linen-blend tank top and Per Una trousers are lightweight and breathable, and very flattering. I can imagine myself wearing this look in St Tropez with heeled leather sandals. And of course, the Insolia technology make the heels comfy enough to wear all day.”

Nineties slip dresses

Slip dresses are a big trend for summer and this satin jacquard fabric is really soft and hangs well. The shape is flattering and accentuates the waist. The bright colour and not-too-short length makes it really versatile: I would add a waist belt to switch up the look.”

“The cowl neckline works really well over a T-shirt and would look great paired with trainers for a festival. Likewise, it could easily be dressed up with a chunky gold necklace, heels and a blazer for evening.”

Modern midis

“This is a new trend for me but I’m definitely a fan. The skirt has a lot of interesting detailing and the waistband looks like a belt, which means one less accessory to think about when getting dressed in the morning. You could totally wear this skirt to a wedding paired with a camisole, and the denim shirt would also work well with jeans and heels.”

Cool utility

Linen is big news, making it ideal for a lightweight and comfy holiday look. The shorts would also look great over a swimsuit for the beach, and I'd get more mileage out of this top by teaming it with jeans and a leather jacket. I love the simplicity of this necklace – my grandma used to wear lots of gold jewellery and I take after her. I have also gone for a bright orange nail varnish, which contrasts well against the neutrals.”

Ultra-feminine style

“This blouse and skirt (right) feature similar prints but at different scales, which adds a point of interest. I live in skirts with trainers and this outfit is ideal for a nice day out. I would add a pale-wash denim jacket to complete the look.”

“Broderie anglaise (left) is a key detail to look out for, as is the Twenties-inspired box fit of this maxi dress. It’s surprisingly easy to wear. I’d team it with statement jewellery and colour-pop mules for a look that would work just as well on holiday as it would in the city.”
