Sizing off and shrinks in wash

The third garment I have bought from M&S where it has shrunk after the first (cold, gentle) wash. Have to buy a size bigger knowing it will shrink but now it’s too short to wear. On the positive size, the material is soft and nice to wear until you wash it.
