HOME TRENDS FOR AUTUMN

Head of design Karen Thomas talks us through the latest interior design trends, from nature-inspired prints to pieces with an Art Deco feel

Rustic style: for a cosy, calming home

“Our homes need to be places where we can work, socialise, retreat and support busy and growing families. We design with four house styles in mind – casual, classic, glamorous and modern – and this rustic-style collection picks up on the overarching mood of a relaxed, more informal home. Our reconnection with nature is reflected in colour, print and pattern. Greens and duck-egg blues are complemented by laundered linen tones and soft ochres, while patterns are inspired by country meadows and wildlife, with acorns, bees and butterflies appearing on cushions and bedding. The Mia sofa comes in both regular and scatterback styles for a more casual feel and will be available in our new bouclé fabric.”

Modern heritage: for a plush and inviting home

“Our boldest collection of the season sees rich oxblood and berry tones mixed with softer blush pink. Patterns are inspired by archive florals, exotic birds, fantastical jungle bugs and butterflies, which appear printed and embroidered on rich velvets and in supersized scale on bedding. Marble and brass add depth and contrast against the rich palette, and are key furniture textures to look out for. You’ll see a nod to Deco-inspired pieces in statement curved headboards, mirrors, lights and occasional furniture pieces, like the panelled Pearl armchair and our Charleston drinks cabinet.”

Vintage glamour: for a luxuriously sophisticated home

“With a pared-back palette of pebble and grey tones and accent colours of anthracite and blush pink, this collection has a timeless appeal. Patterns mix Art Deco-inspired geometric and shell-like motifs with leaf and animal-inspired designs. Textiles are soft and luxurious – think silks and velvets. You’ll see pintucks and button detailing on cushions and bolsters to add interest. Furniture shapes are curved and feminine, and upholstered button finishes appear on sofas and footstools. Mirrored furniture, statement mirrors and vintage-style lighting provide a glam finish.”

Mid-century bold: for a bright, modern home

“Rooted in Scandi simplicity, this is a modern, seasonless collection. We’ve brought colour-blocked geometric prints up to date with a fresh colour palette of luminous shades and pops of bright pastels that sit easily with a neutral backdrop. Furniture mixes clean lines, blonde wood tones and white. The Cali coffee table is a real statement piece, and the light oak Nord range will add minimal Scandi style. If you’re looking to upgrade your working-from-home set-up, the flexible Loft ladder desk is great when space is tight and doubles up as shelf storage.”
