Sizes from two to six years have an elasticated waistband. Sizes from six to 10 years have an elastic back with a hook, bar and zip, while sizes from 10 years have a hook, bar and zip. Very nice quality, nice shape. I bought 4-5 for my son who started school. They are perfect length for him (plus the option to let out the bottom hem for growth is genius). Waist adjusters - and even after multiple washes they have kept their shape.

As expected for school trousers at this price point, the fabric and overall quality were reasonable. Unfortunately, the “slim fit” wasn’t slim enough for my son, and I had to have them altered by a tailor to achieve a proper fit. Unfortunately, the elastic on the waist gave them the gather of a skirt. This is the main reason for my three-star rating. I’d really like to see a genuinely slim-waisted option available, particularly in the twin-pack school trousers, as this would make them a much better choice for slimmer-built children.

Quality is good and length is good, but as with all boys trousers these days they are excessively big around the waist despite picking the slim fit version. I presume this is so they do not offend the masses of overweight children and their parents, but it just means the back of the waist is crumpled up and uncomfortable for regular sized boys.

Bought in the recent sale for my son as he’s starting a new school. I love the elastic inside meaning you can adjust the waist to make the trousers last longer, and the slim fit. Nice thick fabric and will hopefully last a nice long time.
