I always buy these to wear for work and they never let me down. They’re comfortable with lots of stretch. And as a 6’5 larger man I have always thought the fit was a good one. Definitely recommend theee.

M&S - poor quality is now the norm
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
No, I don't recommend this
Very poor quality material compared to previous chinos purchased. This is true for the majority of their men’s clothes. M&S is no longer my go to store for clothing - such a shame that quality has been abandoned.

Really good chino trousers. Well made, nice colour and great value. Fit true to size, (30R). Hubby said they are comfortable.

Pocket depth

Great trousers spoilt by very shallow pockets. M&S are you listening? Your trouser pockets need to be deeper.

Wear low on hips and shorten appropriately

Yes, I recommend this
Very long for a 29" leg length. I had to shorten by 2 3/4", whereas usually 29" requires no alteration. Also have to wear low on hips to get enough room at the crotch. Time will tell if the stretchy material wears well.

Very nice. Expanding waist which can feel a little large. They fit very comfy. I will buy them again.

Not as good as the last pair
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
No, I don't recommend this
I bought a pair a year ago - they are excellent. However, with this new pair, one leg is over an inch shorter than the other and they look washed out after only two washes. Disappointing.

Almost ultimate

Excellent to wear...super comfort and shape. Just two downsides... there's no key pocket anymore, which is bizarre and frustrating, and the best colour choice is only available in the slim fit, e.g. dark pewter, which seems strange. Otherwise would recommend.

Nice cut and style, I like the zip side pocket where I can store my keys for piece of mind, over the past a number of items have fallen out of my pockets.

So it is a measure of how good M&S chinos were circa 1990 that I have compared every pair of chinos that I've bought from M&S since to those that I bought back then. These are the most expensive pair of regular fit chinos that M&S sell, and unfortunately they don't measure up to well. Firstly M&S no longer sell any pairs of chinos that have the ActiveWaist feature which allowed a bit of give on the waist. The material of these chinos also seem to be not as stout/resilience as before and lack a "firmness" to them - the best way I can describe it is previously if you ironed a pair, the material would stand up on its own close to your fingers - now with these pairs they don't. Having said that - the positives? The fit is relatively good, there's no shrinkage as there was in pairs I've previously bought, the colours don't run and you can get away with not ironing them after washing - as such I'd buy them again - but because there isn't anything better on the market currently.

The trousers seemed ok. We were slightly confused that they had been turned up, but once un turned and pressed they were fine

Nice fitting chinos
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
I like these chinos which I have bought in both regular and slim fit .I didn’t bother trying the skinny fit as I know I wouldn’t get them past my knees! Over the years I’ve bought some of the top names for chinos in my view they have priced themselves out of the market and furthermore the m and s chinos as well as being realistically priced are of comparable quality and the fit [apart from the skinnies ] just as well Well done M and S
