Great product but zips on legs for shorts are a bit flimsy and so very fiddly to put back on

Was wary due to previous reviews about bagginess but I like them , room to move your hips but also flattering, I bought size 12 my usual m and s size , nice soft fabric , zip off legs handy , not v long though,

I wanted some trousers to go walking in, and these fill the bill. They are a good fit.

Summer walking trousers

Very comfortable. Shame that M&S does not cater for shorter people by having different lengths so have had to shorten the trousers. There is a strange pocket near the hem. Lovely colour for summer hiked

I love the fact that they are easily adapted to shorts. Lots of useful pockets. Fabric is comfortable . Not worn in the rain yet so can attest to the ‘showerproofness’ of the pants. My only criticism is they are a little high waisted for me.

Convertible walking trousers/shorts

Lightweight trousers that zipped off as shorts, easy to wear. Fitted well around the waist and it has a belt to tighten if needed. The leg could be an extra inch longer in the trousers. Looks great as shorts alone.

NOT a ‘Good Move’

I was really looking forward to receiving these and was so disappointed. (You know when you wish you’d taken the advice from previous negative reviews!) I’m not a reviewer normally but had to address this. I was so confused by the women who loved them!? (and unfortunately taken in). I think these trousers were designed by an alien? They’re certainly not made to fit a standard female body. The cut is all wrong. There’s no give in the fabric at all, but instead of being tailored at the back they have the most unflattering and ineffective wide, ‘bunched up’ elasticated rear waist band (!?) And theres still no allowance for your backside and hips! So they might look pretty cool on the model - but don’t be fooled - in real life they are unflattering and unfunctional. On the plus side; The fabric feels lovely - it’s really soft & the adjustable cuffs are great for a shorter length option. Unfortunately……….that’s it. The Negatives; The zip off leg is a total gimmick. The shorts are too short, (even if you have great legs). The zip inserts form an uncomfortable stiff ridge across the front of the thigh - (that you’re constantly aware of). Rendering the soft feel, comfortable fabric - um…pointless. In a range that is designed for movement - these really don’t work. I’m pretty active, average build, slim, size 12, 5’10”. I will always choose comfort and function over style, but still want to look good. I was hoping I might get all 3 features in this trouser - but they failed miserably on all counts. I could not bend, never mind squat in these without a worrying and uncomfortable strain across the backside fabric (and I really don’t have a huge one) which you definitely shouldn’t feel in ‘activewear’. So - if you have a generous waistline, snake hips, no bum and small thighs these are the trousers for you! (As long as you don’t have much sensitivity in your skin of course, otherwise the ridges across your thighs would still bother you). {Returned these and opted for the ‘Trekking Pants’, size 12 -also Good Move range- which I would recommend. A smart comfortable, stretchy, weather friendly jogger; Best of all - they move with you & have zipped pockets. Only downside - could do with being 1.5” longer, and there’s no option for a long leg version. Please sort this out M&S! Or better still TAILOR the back of the ‘stormwear walking trousers’ add a couple of back zipped pockets, a proper button and produce them in the Trekking Pants fabric?! - Will I get royalties for just designing your best selling activewear trouser?}

Surprisingly flattering and not frumpy for walking
Originally posted on marksandspencer.com (UK)
These look great on the model, I was a bit concerned that once on me they would look frumpy and just wrong! But no, they look great. The fact that you can drawstring the ankles in makes all the difference, this gives them a modern look. Really nice soft smooth material that feels good on the skin. When unzipped the shorts are absolutely fine. I read for some they were too short. I’m 5’4 and between a 10 and 12 in some shops. I ordered both sizes and the 12 looked and fit better. Really happy with these and haven’t found another pair that fits and looks like these when on. I have the black pair.

Good Walking Trousers for Spring/Summer/Autumn

The trousers are quite light and airy, so good for summer weather. Love the option to adjust to shorts, as may well get hot whilst walking. I had forgotten that I had already bought some walking trousers, but they are thicker/warmer, so good to have both.

Great hiking trousers

These are made from a good weight of fabric, with many pockets, which makes them an excellent choice for hiking. I don’t think I would use the shorts and would prefer mid-calf zip-offs if this were ever an option.

I purchased the yellow trousers in the sale which were a very good fit and style. However I then purchased the black ones which arrived navy blue! It did state on the ticket they were black but definitely were navy blue so returned them.

Mmmmmmm. Bought size 14 because I'm a 12 but most things don't fit anymore due to the menopause. They are very baggy and a little big but kept because they will probably fit better in a few months! They also have a pull cord on the ankle which I hadn't realised

These are superb as they are lightweight and comfortable. Being just under 5ft 2ins I wasn’t too sure re length but you can tighten the ankles and then fold over the extra material. I am usually a size 12 but bought the 10 and I am glad I did. Great, deep pockets. Good too that they can be worn as shorts. Definitely recommend as the rain didn’t penetrate! 😃
