Chainmail Shoulder Bag

I had been trying to make my own big-enough gold mesh evening bag by covering a nylon bag with gold mesh. It wasn’t working well due to the shape of the bag, and the sharp snagging edges of the gold mesh. When I saw that M&S had this bag ready-made, I did a quick calculation of the cost of time and fabric glue that I was gonna have to spend on my DIY bag, and decided the M&S bag was worth it compared to that. Well - I’m not saying it’s bad, but I don’t really like the way it looks. The gold mesh is matt and dull compared to the stuff I’ve been using. And it’s laid over a substrate of really cheap-looking black synthetic material. The black colour underneath shines through and I don’t think it’s helping. Even using the same synthetic material in a brighter colour would have been better. I will keep this bag because it’s big enough to realistically carry on an evening out, and it doesn’t actually look terrible. Maybe I’ll feel better about it when the time comes to actually use it. But it’s also inspired me to persevere with my DIY bag - a bright yellow gold mesh over pale pink nylon - because if I can fix the problems, it’s going to end up looking nicer than this M&S bag

A classy little bag but not too little. I have been looking for a silver handbag for a while and at last this is the perfect one for me. Super quality and a great price. One to treasure.
